I've been documenting the new Lancaster Gate housing development in Hungerford and unlike the new roundabout and redirected road I'm staggered how quickly the houses are being build.

As summer slowly turns to autumn I wanted take the opportunity to see what harvesting looked like from the air, the noise of the machinery was surprisingly loud & relentless but I think the images were worth all the noise and dust.

Crop circles have been around for years but they are not always that easy to see from ground level so I thought I would take the opportunity to see what I could find with my drone this week. (DJI Phantom 4)

To respect farmers and their land I don’t like hiking across their fields without permission, for the bottom image had to fly my drone for quite a long distance but never out of eyesight to see this crop circle.

When I got home and had a closer look at a few of the images I was really surprised to see a family of 5 in the middle of the bottom image having a picnic?

3 different ways to take a portrait

When I first started taking portraits, I would only shoot black & white film and print myself. It was my genre & I loved it.

Luckily, I moved on and have so much more to offer. The 3 pictures I’m showing here are a great example, 3 portraits shot in 3 different ways.

1: Natural light shot in the garden.
2: Mobile studio using a white back drop & a few studio lights.
3: Inside home using just natural light from the windows.

I have a selection of different style back drops and can take family portraits, children’s portraits, commercial head shots, branding shots etc in just about any inside space or outside space weather permitting but that’s where the inside space with a bit of lighting helps if the weather is unsettled.

Which is your favourite style?

A different view.

My last 11 years were spent as a senior photographer shooting for a company that changed directions a few times, some changes were for the better whilst others not so (only my opinion).

Since parting company at the latter part of last year & starting to re-establish myself the lockdown has blessed me with time to think about all the different genres of photography & there are many. I have decided to narrow my field of photography down so I’m more skilled in a few genres rather than a jack of all trades. This is proving more difficult than I initially thought.

My drone photography (which is not on my list) is a great example, as a visual person (worlds have never been my forte) I absolutely love seeing things from a different viewpoint. These shots were taken in Hungerford of the new Lancaster Park development by Bewley Homes, I was amazed at how beautiful the countryside looked from the air when I turned my drone 180 degrees. I’ve been driving up and down the Salisbury road for years & had no idea how beautiful it is behind all the hedges.

“Who knew eating could be such fun for a little fella”

I had the opportunity just before lockdown to help a new start up business with a few marketing shots for their range of children's plates. Having worked with children as a school/nursery/portrait photographer for the last 18 years I have to say working with Sophia & Ernie was an absolute dream. Ive enclosed a link in the comments to try and help “Munchy Play” spread the word.
