Up and starting photographer and visual content creator, Kristina Gurova, has had her share in creativity and explorations. Using her skills gained at Huddersfield University, and interacting with individuals from various fields, she has worked with Kirklees Local TV (KLTV), started her own business, and creates visual content for minor businesses. Her current project includes collaboration with a 10-member brass band. Before arriving in the UK, she traveled around Europe and Eastern Asia and grew up surrounded by talented individuals, and artists, having first-hand experience on stage. Kristina hopes to continue to thrive in the entertainment industry whilst pursuing a passion for photography.
Description of work:
Kristina Gurova has taken an approach of an explorer. As a history lover, she focused on changing the perspective of how the Yorkshire Abbeys are viewed. This long-term project manifested from continuous photoshoots taken on scenes and further developed into a final piece.
With a bit of multiexposure manipulation, she has created her work which allows the viewer to fill in the empty gaps within the images. The inner illusion within the images also may allow the viewer to see other elements and shapes too. By stripping away the color and layering, Kristina gives the freedom to explore all the hidden aspects within the images and let the imagination run wild.
The idea was born from a simple conversation with a fellow friend. Gaining inspiration from Nobuhiro Nakanishi, Corinne Vionnet, and others, the final images introduce the viewers to a different perspective on how historical landmarks may be viewed.
