Great news 👍

🚶‍♀️🚲 Great news for users of the South Staffordshire Railway Walk 🌿

We’re pleased to share that additional surface improvement works will be starting next week, from Monday 13 April, to further enhance this well‑used route.

Thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), contractors will be on site next week to carry out surface improvements. These works will extend the path from Bridgnorth Road through to Himley Station Car Park.

The programme is expected to last around one month. While there may be short, temporary closures on small sections of the walk, users will be able to divert through the adjacent woodland, and every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum. Thank you for your patience while these improvements take place. We’re excited to see the benefits this investment will bring to the community! 🌳✨

A new arrival in the post today. Not train related, but it should shed some insight and good footage from around the top of Stallings Lane/Oak Lane where the canal and rail used to meet.

Two more books arrived recently following a bit more research on Himley Station. I also visited the site on Friday pending the news that the line north may be closed off for a few weeks while improvements to the walk and access points are completed 👍. A further post should arrive this week with the first batch of before & after photos for 2025 due to land 🙂
