County Down has a way of revealing itself differently from the sky. From the bold, unmistakable colours of **St John’s Point Lighthouse**, standing proudly above the coast, to the sweeping sands of **Murlough Beach**, where the shoreline stretches towards Newcastle and the Mourne Mountains, every view seems to tell its own story.

These are the places that make you stop, look twice, and realise just how much beauty can be found on our own doorstep. The rugged coastline, endless beaches, quiet landscapes and the ever-changing light over the Irish Sea create scenes that are almost impossible to ignore when you have a drone above them.

And this is only a small part of what County Down has to offer. **Do you know of any other beautiful or lesser-known places around County Down that I should capture from above?** Drop your suggestions in the comments — I might just take the drone there next.

From above, Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park feels almost like a scene from another world — a sea of green, winding paths and gardens carrying the last colours of summer.

In late August, the roses were still in bloom, filling the gardens with colour and the air with their gentle perfume. 🌹 Beneath it all lies a little history — once part of the old Wilmont estate, the grounds were gifted to the people of Belfast by Lady Dixon in 1959, in memory of her husband, Sir Thomas.

From above, Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park feels almost like a scene from another world — a sea of green, winding paths and gardens carrying the last colours of summer.

Some places seem to hold their history quietly, and Drumbeg Parish Church is one of them.

Standing beside the River Lagan, this peaceful church has been part of the landscape for centuries. Records of a church here go back as far as 1306, while the present church was rebuilt in the 19th century. But it is the graveyard surrounding it that really makes you stop and look around.

Old headstones, weathered monuments and generations of local families tell their own stories. Some names have been here for hundreds of years, while many others have slowly faded with time. Walking or flying above this place gives you a different perspective — not just of a beautiful old church, but of a small piece of history that has quietly remained through the centuries.

There’s something almost poetic about looking at a wind turbine.

A flower takes in CO₂ and gives back Oxygen. In its own way, this giant "flower" does something different but still so similar — it captures the invisible power of the wind and gives back electricity.

Standing above the hills of Slievenacloy, it almost feels like nature and technology have found their own way of working together.

As promised… Portavogie Part Two.

More aerial views of the beautiful town and harbour of Portavogie, seen from a different perspective high above the coastline. From the colourful harbour and fishing boats to the rugged shoreline and the hidden details that are so easy to miss from the ground, every view reveals another side of this special place.

There is something captivating about seeing familiar places from the air. The landscape opens up, the coastline tells its own story, and even the smallest details become part of a much bigger picture.

So here are a few more moments captured from above — another glimpse of Portavogie, its harbour, its coastline, and the beauty that surrounds it. I hope these aerial views inspire a few more people to discover and enjoy this wonderful part of Northern Ireland.
