Newborn Safety is a big passion of ours! While we will always encourage you to shop around and choose a photographer whose style you love, please, please make sure that you choose someone with experience and who has had extensive newborn safety training. It’s not as easy as it looks and there are so many things to consider, from safe posing, to checking that baby’s swaddle isn’t too tight, to making sure that your little one’s head is supported at all times. I’ve seen so many scary things online. Choose carefully – you will NEVER regret choosing the safest newborn photographer for your most precious little one.

If your little one has baby acne, or flaky skin, or even a bruise from delivery, please don’t let it put you off having beautiful newborn portraits taken. I always discuss editing with you, and we can decide exactly what you want to be taken out of your image. I recommend that anything temporary and distracting can be removed – so when you look back, you don’t think about that little scratch on her cheek, but instead you see her perfect eyelashes and beautiful button nose!

PARENTS – get into the picture!! Sometimes new parents are reluctant to get into an image. I understand – really I do. You’ve been awake all night, you are feeling hormonal, exhausted, you may not have had time to brush your hair! Please don’t worry about any of this. Your baby doesn’t care. We don’t care. All we see is the love you have for each other. Your little one will LOVE looking back and seeing these images – do it for them!

All newborn sessions are led by your baby. Some like to stop for regular feeds and reassurance, whereas some just love being gently rocked and moved about by us as we change their pose, and there is little need to stop for breaks at all, unless parents want to! Every session is different, because every baby is unique.
