To find love. To live life. To learn about who you are. Don’t let races scare you. Don’t let them force you to be at the same pace as everyone else. You’re not here to compete. You’re not here to follow. If you rushed ahead and reached the finish line, would you be happy? Would you be fulfilled? Would you find love? You might for a while. Because if you ran ahead just to get to the end, you will find all the things you were looking for. But perhaps, at the cost of yourself. Perhaps, at the cost of losing much more than you gained. Perhaps, at the cost of never being satisfied. At the cost of chasing what might never stay. So be patient. Take long breaths. Walk a little further than you would. Lean deeper into yourself. Into your fears. Into your trauma. Into the parts that are discomforting. So you understand yourself before the destination arrives. So you understand your happiness before you search for it in others. So you understand the difference between the love you give and the love you receive. So that at a journey’s end, you understand what it means to choose yourself before choosing what you sought for.”
