PROMPT SHEET - Find below a useful prompt sheet for your photography walk and writing. This is a useful guide to use, and to help you connect your images and words.
LOOKING DEEPER AND FINDING RHYTHM IN EVERYDAY LIFE.
QUOTE -
“There's nothing wrong with enjoying looking at the surface of the ocean itself, except that when you finally see what goes on underwater, you realise that you've been missing the whole point of the ocean. Staying on the surface all the time is like going to the circus and staring at the outside of the tent”.
Dave Barry.
Grab your camera/device, pen and paper!!! — Remember to take notes.
PHOTOGRAPHY TASK PROMPTS - Your photography walk and mission.
Take a photograph of anything that suggests music without showing an instrument or musician. Are there any shops playing music? There could be someone nodding or tapping their foot in time, like a metronome. Take your time to capture the moments, either with your camera (device) or in your notes. Try looking beyond the obvious. Where is the rhythm hiding? Maybe it’s the repetitive patter of footsteps on the pavement or the noise a café door makes when it swings open and shuts. Attempt to hear the area you're in, in images. This is a great task to look for similes, metaphors, and onomatopoeic language, i.e., the sound of shuffling feet is like the brush on a jazz drum — the automatic doors hissed open like a synth swell.
TAKE FIVE: Find a quiet space to (if with a friend or partner) discuss and organise your work so far.
Organise and choose which of your pictures to use. What have you written so far? Which piece, or pieces of writing, do you wish to focus on and complete? What do you feel is your strongest piece? Is there room to add or expand on your photography walk notes?
