I've finished another little sketchbook journal / visual diary.
Not everything is complete and definitely not perfect, but it is full of memories of friends and family, changes in the seasons, nature highlights, walks, food, quotes... Big events as well as small things that you wouldn't put in a photo album or post on your socials
(although here I am sharing on my socials 🤦🤣)
Time for a fresh new book -handmade of course 🤩🎨✍️

We had a fantastic and rare opportunity to visit today.
This was one of my Doodles on Location events, but numbers were very limited on this occasion.

Here are a few sketches I did today in pencil, as no ink or paint is allowed. I used water soluble pencils which I woke up with water when I got home.

Illustrations include: the seal of Berkhamstead Rural District Council, oak carving from .head.kings.langley
and penny farthing that was owned by Thomas Stephens, who rode around the world on a unicycle (not sure if it was this actual one!)

I took a lot of photos, so there'll be more sketches to come

This is the accredited museum for Dacorum. No galleries, but a store of all kinds of collections dating as far back as Neolithic times. There's more to see than can ever be seen...

If you'd like to visit, there are tours in July. You can go to the Dacorum Heritage Trust website to book and for more info.

"The guided tours will offer you an overview of Dacorum’s history, spanning over 6,000 years. Learn about the activities we do to help conserve your local history.

The museum is also home to a collection of objects rescued from the Ovaltine Factory in Kings Langley. Explore a small display of beautiful 1950s Ovaltine advertising artworks, from original paintings to final designs.

Opening Dates & Times:
Thursday 9 July, 11am-3pm (tours at 11am & 1pm)
Friday 10 July, 11am-3pm (tours at 11am & 1pm)
Saturday 11 July, 11am-3pm (tours at 11am & 1pm)"

Today, the subject of Doodles on Location was the stunning strip of wildflowers -and in particular, poppies - by the Magic Roundabout, near Kodak tower.
It was a very hot day, but we were cool under the shade of a chestnut tree.

One of my absolute favourite things is watching beautiful brand new cygnets splash around and try and climb onto their parents' backs, under their wings.
My camera was brought out of hibernation, so I'm a little out of practice - excuse the poor focus!
