You don’t need to arrive with a Pinterest board and a five point styling plan.

Some parents know exactly what colours they love. Some walk in and say “I have no idea, please help.” Both are completely fine.

Part of my job is helping you choose what works, keeping everything calm, and creating a gallery with variety without making you feel like you’ve had to plan the whole thing yourself.

Simple setups like this are always a favourite because they let your baby be the focus. Soft textures, tiny hands, sleepy little face, done.

There’s something about a tiny baby in a tiny pram that just gets me every time.

This kind of setup is classic without feeling too fussy. Soft wrap, neutral colours, sleepy little face, and a baby who looks like they’ve got absolutely no plans for the day beyond napping and being adored.

Which, to be fair, sounds ideal.

Newborn sessions are fully guided, so you don’t need to know what to bring, what to choose, or how it all works before you arrive. I’ll talk you through everything and keep it calm from start to finish.

You don’t need to feel like your normal self again before you’re allowed in the photos.

That’s something I wish more new parents believed. You’ve just had a baby. You’re tired, everything feels a bit upside down, and the idea of being photographed can feel like one extra thing to think about.

But parent photos don’t have to be a big production. They can be simple, calm, and guided completely, so you’re not left wondering what on earth to do with yourself.

Your baby’s newborn gallery isn’t just about how small they were. It’s also about the people who were holding them through those early days.

Dads, I’m afraid “I’ll just stay behind the scenes” doesn’t always work in my studio.

You don’t have to love having your photo taken. You don’t have to know what to do, where to look, or how to hold your face in a way that doesn’t feel weird. I’ll guide all of that.

But I do think it’s worth having at least a few photos of you with your baby, because one day they’ll see just how tiny they were in your arms.

And that’s a bit more important than whether you felt awkward for five minutes.

I think newborns have about 47 different little expressions before they’ve even fully established their place in your household.

This one I call the, “I’ve only just got here and I’m still deciding what I think of the place” expression.

And this is why, when people tell me new babies all 'look the same', I just laugh, because I've had hundreds through the studio doors, and I can confirm, they are all very, very different.

Sibling photos are always a bit of a wild card, and that’s exactly why I love them.

Sometimes big brothers and sisters come in ready for their close up. Sometimes they need a bit of warming up. Sometimes they’re mainly interested in snacks and getting back to their toys, which is fair enough really.

I never expect children to perform perfectly for photos. We keep it relaxed, give them time, and work with their personality rather than trying to force a moment that isn’t there.

Because when it works, it really works. A proud little face, a gentle kiss, a cuddle that lasts just long enough before they remember they’re four and have other things to do.

Newborn sessions can include sibling and family photos too, so you’ve got the full story, not just baby on their own.

Family shots like this are one of my absolute favourite.

No need to worry about where to look, or smiling at a camera, it's all about your conection with each other.

Yes, I will still show you how to stand and how to hold your baby but the rest is just natural reactions and it certainly makes for a gorgeous family shot.
