I spend many hours under the stars, sometimes with my camera, but often without. There is no greater peace than watching space unfold before our eyes. And then comes along the Northern Lights and my mind is blown! Last night was a wonderful display of this amazing phenomenon and I didn’t want to go home - but after 2 hours the cold air got the better of me and I reluctantly left my little paradise.
Hope some of you got to see them.
Just a few tips for when they next visit.

Use an app that alerts you when the Lights are active. Head somewhere with no light pollution.
Look north.
Put your smartphone in Night Mode and increase your exposure time (I go to 10 seconds)
Use a tripod if possible and a remote shutter remote control for phones.
Finally, be patient.

Last night I went on a fabulous Ghost Walk in Harrogate with the wonderful 👻
What a great evening - informative, interesting and a little bit spooky. Paul told us all about the history of prominent buildings in Harrogate and the ghost stories attached to each one.
I can understand why these walks are so popular, it’s a great evening out.
Did we see any ghosts?! 👻 Well, take a look at the last photo. See the white figure in the distance? Is it a ghost I wonder? 👻

There’s a strong possibility of seeing the Northern Lights over the next 2 days, here in the U.K., specifically in Scotland and Northern England. So let’s hope for clear skies. Head out to an area with low light pollution, and look north. Then get your camera out and hope for the best. Looking forward to seeing them again.

I think Autumn is well and truly here. We have had some extreme weather recently and I appreciate bad weather can have a negative affect on some people. It is a proven fact that poor weather, especially over winter can affect people’s mental health.
For me, I think the best way forward through our winter months, here in the UK, is to embrace the weather, wholeheartedly. Find ways to make yourself feel better, whether that’s snuggling up under a blanket watching your favourite film or going out for a walk in the countryside. For myself, I love to be outdoors, letting the wind blow through my hair and taking in all that fresh air 🧡🍁🍂

Good moo-rning! Actually, this photo was taken at sunset but this friendly cow captivated me with those big saucer eyes. Always take care when photographing animals not known to you. You never know how they will react. I was safely tucked behind a wall taking this photo. 🐄
