A few months ago I was incredibly lucky enough to travel to the remote wilderness of Finland to visit the European Brown Bear the in the wild.

Though I have been back now for some time, I keep thinking back to the incredible experiences I had visiting them. There is nothing quite like coming face to face with a full grown brown bear in the middle of the woods.

Meet the newest members of Banham Zoo, Kira and Luka!

You may have seen some of my tiger cub posts over the last month or so, and I thought it was finally time to introduce you to them. This is Kira and Luka. They are the newest cubs born at Banham Zoo and they are now key to the conservation of their species.

Their parents Kuzma and Mishka were introduced mid-2021 where they instantly hit it off. Kira and Luka are the result of that union! With 2 new Amur Tigers (also known as Siberian tigers) now in this world, their species will continue to grow and thrive, hopefully making its way out of the Endangered species category.

Over the last few years, I've never once gotten luck enough to see a Clouded Leopard awake. That is until my last trip to Shepreth Wildlife Park.

How beautiful is this female Clouded leopard, peaking out from the bush she's hiding in?

You'd think this is the month of cubs with he amount of amazing baby animals I've seen this year so far!

Here we have the gorgeous Kira and Luka from Banham Zoo - they've grown so much!

I've been absolutely blessed to have seen these stunning Maned Wolf cubs at Shepreth Wildlife Park. These guys are always so elusive, so when I got over an hour of amazing activity from the handsome Zorro (the male cub) I was so happy I could cry.

The maned wolf derives its name from the characteristic mane on its neck which stands erect when it scents danger. Its body is covered with long, reddish-brown hair. They are often described as 'tall foxes' due to their long, stilt like legs. They are solitary animals, who unlike 'normal' wolves, hunt alone.

Just heard the devastating news that this morning Goshi the black jaguar of Chester zoo has sadly passed away unexpectedly. My heart breaks at this news. She was such a stunningly beautiful creature full of personality and she will be missed so very much.

My thoughts are with her keepers at this time and of course with Napo, who will have to adapt to being on his own. Sleep tight little one ♥️♥️

Meet Jethro the Pallas' Cat.

Jethro was born in a very large litter of six at Highland Wildlife Park to female Allula and was one of only two boys born. While at Highland Wildlife Park, he played an important part in a new vocalisation study for the species, which has never been done before.

The strength of a Pallas’s cat defies logic and Jethro is no exception. They are one of the world’s smallest cats but are extremely strong for their size making them a real challenge to manage at feeding times and to handle when necessary.

Found in parts of Asia such as the Himalayan foot hills of Russia, Kazakstan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia these cats have adapted to a life at high altitudes of over 4,000m, with thick fur and low-set ears to protect against the cold
