More images from yesterdays misty morning lift off from Strathaven Balloon Festival.

Six o'clock start this morning and off down to Strathaven Balloon Festival. Several balloons took off on a flight towards Stonehouse. Chased after them in the car and ended up assisting the Green Horizon balloon that had landed in a very smelly field and helped pulling it across the road. They very kindly allowed me to get some really close up photographs.

Passing through Aviemore I noticed tell tale signs of a steam train in the station. Transpired there was some filming going on, all hush hush 🤫

Passing through Carrbridge on my road trip I just had to photograph the old packhorse bridge from 1717, with the river Dulnain running under it. This bridge is the oldest known in the highlands.

A small detour on my way back from Inverness (3hrs) 😂 took me to Portknockie in Buckie. This is one that has now officially been ticked off the bucket list. Bow Fiddle Rock such an amazing place. More images to show in the future.

Deep in the forest near LOCH VAA miles from any road, sits a long abandoned car. Built around 1938 this Opel Olympia sits neglected on bald tyres rotting into the surrounding woods. Not much is known about how the car got here, but my thinking on it is that a car of German origin that would be in the UK around the mid to late 1940's would not be at the head of the queue to get rationed petrol and the owner would be seen as a Na$i sympathiser. What else to do than hide it deep in the forrest and forget about it.
Last pic is what the car would have looked like new.

Went on a hike to find an iconic motor vehicle dumped in the woods, (more on that soon) but had to pass by Loch Vaa with this gem of a boat house with the red corrugated roof.

A C-17 Globmaster III accompanied by two Eurofighter Typhons circled over North Berwick before heading to perform a fly past for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
