Still meet people regularly who dont believe aurora can be seen as far south as south scotland. This particular aurora was may 10th There are two general scales we can measure strength of aurora it was a g5 geomagnetic storm (scale is g1 to g5) and scale is kp1 to kp9which is off the scale strong. This was a kp 9.and was seen as far south as italy. Rare. And it was clearly visible by eye.The strongest geomagnetic storm to hit earth since 2003.And the strongest aurora the uk has seen for over twenty years.did you see it?.i wont ever forget it. visitscotland.com
