We went for a wander along the Clyde Falls Trail today to take in the autumn leaves turning. The colour was amazing, so many beautiful shades of orange and amber. 🍁 the falls at the end of the trail we’re worth the climb, even though I forgot my inhaler. 🤦🏼‍♀️ We just took the hills slower and I managed not to die 😂 Note to self : don’t forget your inhaler.

Lockdown round 1 is well wrapped up, looks like 2 is on the horizon. Lovely weather and a special kind of cabin fever means dragging kids, dogs, and all out for the day. There were tears and we consumed A LOT of sugar. I went to edit photos and nearly forgot what I was doing, been wrapped up in renovations for months so my camera has gotten dusty in a corner. The dark skies and late sunrises are coming, so I hope I get out more. 📷

Secret in the wood...
Outside of Gifford there is an old castle said to be built by a sorcerer. It’s absolute rubbish but it’s a pretty walk and a fun ghost story for the kiddies. 🧙‍♀️

I’ve been so incredibly busy since lockdown started. Some say the 14+ weeks have crawled by, but in my world I still can’t believe tomorrow is the first of July. In my head we’ve barely made it past April.
I haven’t had much time with my camera so far this year. Great intentions and all. There is a gorgeous field near my house absolutely full of poppies and wildflowers.... so we went today to catch a poppy photo, but I am forever drawn to the thistle. It’s a gorgeous flower that blooms in all conditions, one of my absolute favourites. It makes sense that it’s the national flower - a prickly w**d. It makes me think of all the Scots that thrive despite the conditions. That no matter where they are planted they bloom.
I’d like to think I’m a bit like that. Either that or I just really have a soft spot for other prickly, unlovable things. 😂

Summer solstice is finally, FINALLY here. The days are incredibly long - this was taken at 10pm. I’m ready for my stars to come back, I miss them so much. I love the long nights of October and November, when the Milky Way peeks out. Summer is so long, and no darkness at night. It does produce some gorgeous almost-sunsets though. 😍
Been a very crazy year around here. It’s been crazy everywhere I know, but we’ve had extra crazy on top of the crazy world we’re in now. I was just glad to be out with my camera and enjoy my lens.

Lockdown is easing in Scotland. Everyone is still wary around each other for the most part, we’re like little moles leaving our burrows. Everyone you meet is careful to stay back (unless for some reason you’re in a supermarket, and then they seem to require to invade every cm of personal space you have 🙄). I’m proud to say we’ve been very careful and followed all the social distancing requirements. Being out for photography and feeling the freedom to do so was wonderful. I’m one of those rare creatures that has done mostly OK during lockdown mentally, a lot of people with serious anxiety have been saying that. For now I’ll just enjoy the sunset.

Golden sunset
Sometimes you just need to get out and put your eye to the back of a lens. The cold burn from the wind is familiar and comfy, and so very Scottish. Goofing around with lenses and filters. My head needed it. Quick evening walk in sea air helped heal the soul. 💜

Early morning steel grey sunrise over the rocks at high tide.
Being stuck inside just means a lot of cross stitching here. A lot of tv shows, a lot of sofa time. I’m glad I got a new sofa before all this happened. 😛

I’ve been on a bit of a photography hiatus for awhile. Between coronavirus taking over my and everyone else’s life I’ve had a busy few months here. The camera sat lonely and neglected. I missed it. Sometimes remembering how to love yourself makes you forget how to calm. Behind my lens gives me a sense of calm. I don’t want to forget to pick up my camera again.

Haven’t been around much on IG because I had Coronavirus (I am pretty sure, wasn’t tested like so many but I’m 90% certain) and it was bloody awful, then lack of being able to leave the house meant I took a whole lot of photos of my cats. 😂 tonight we went for a bit of fun and tried some light painting!.

New beginnings.
The snow fell over Perthshire this weekend and we went to see it. Alfie ran all over, happy as anything to be out and free in the snow. I decided not to carry my camera and instead took this on my phone. This was one of the most peaceful places I’ve been, and the most magical. I loved every second of it.
