Over the last three months I have been on my own little cooking journey, learning how to make sourdough.
It is such a complex process and gives me an even stronger admiration for all the artisan bakers producing their amazing bread every day.
I was inspired by my favourite bakers Haxby bakehouse, Little Arras, Leeds Bread Co-op
Who have kept my desire for superb bread sated for many years, thank you so much guys.
My baking started due to the kindness of Bluebird Bakery who gave me some of their starter. I also had help from Luke's Bakery when Luke taught me how to make sourdough in a commercial bakery.
A huge thank you has to go to Elaine of Foodbod Sourdough for sharing her home-baking friendly master recipe, and being so kind with her time when things have not gone to plan with my bread.
I’m loving my new passion and I have my own mini production here at home at the moment, as I have been baking loaves as presents instead of giving Christmas cards to my closest friends.
