Your baby will never be this small again.

I know that sounds obvious. But it doesn't really hit home until you're a few weeks in, looking at photos from day three, thinking 'hang on, were they actually that tiny?'

The newborn stage goes by in a blur of feeds, nappy changes, and pure exhaustion. You're so deep in survival mode that you can't always stop and soak it in the way you thought you would.

It’s not a failing, it’s just how it goes. The newborn fog is real!

My job is to capture the version of your baby you're almost too tired to fully see. So that one day, when that stage has passed and everything feels a little easier, you can look back and actually take it in properly.

If you're currently pregnant and want to make sure these moments don't slip you by, drop me a message and we can have a chat.

Before you book any newborn photographer - including me - there are a few things worth knowing.

Safety training. Consistency across full galleries. What questions to actually ask. The difference between a session fee and a deposit. Why some poses should only ever be created as composite images.

Most photographer websites won't tell you any of this. I've put it all in one place.

Before a newborn session, most mums have at least one of these going round in their head...

'What if baby won't stop crying?'
'What if I don't feel photo-ready?'
'What if they won't settle and we don't get anything?'
'What if my baby has jaundice?'

They've all come in the studio. And every single time, we've worked through it together.

I've written an article that helps to answer all of these questions and more, so if you'd like to have a read, comment NEWBORNWORRIES and I'll send over the link.

Part two of capturing a one year old who can’t yet sit independently – and mum was worried he’d cry the whole time. Here’s how it went!

Those classic newborn poses - tiny baby curled up, fast asleep, still all scrunched up from the womb - have a window where we can achieve them.

And it’s pretty short!

In those first couple of weeks, babies are still naturally curled up, they sleep deeply, and settle into poses without much fuss. After that, they start to uncurl, wake up to the world, and become a lot more opinionated about being moved around!

The poses don't become impossible. But they do get harder - and the results often look different.
It's why I always recommend booking during pregnancy rather than after baby arrives. Not to add to your to-do list, but to take something off it! You don’t want to be sorting out the admin of baby photos once baby’s here and you’re rushing to find a decent photographer who’s actually got last minute availability.

You don't need to know when baby’s going to arrive. You just reserve your space around your due date, and when baby arrives we’ll sort out the actual date of your session.

Then you can properly enjoy your newborn bubble without another thing to think about.

Find out more about my newborn sessions and reserve yours today - comment NEWBORNSESSION and I’ll send over the link.

If you search 'best newborn photographer Gloucester' you'll get a list of people who've paid to appear there.

Which isn't really that helpful.

I've written an honest guide to newborn photographers in the local area - including my direct competitors, what they're genuinely great at, who they're not right for, and an honest assessment of my own drawbacks too.

Because the right photographer for your family might not be me. And I'd rather you know that upfront.

Comment BESTNEWBORN and I'll send it over.

'Am I too late?'

This happens a lot. Panicked mums who are a week postpartum, exhausted, and suddenly realising they never booked a newborn photoshoot.

If this is you, take a breath.

Yes, the first 5 to 14 days are ideal for those tiny, curled-up, sleepy poses you see on my page. But your baby will never be this small again, whether they are 6 days old, 36 days old, or 3-6 months old!

So it just means that if your baby is a little older than that ideal window, we'll just adjust our expectations. We might capture wide-awake expressions, big stretches, and gorgeous early smiles instead.

It's never 'too late' to capture your baby's story.

I’ve written a full guide on exactly when you should book your newborn photographs (hint: it's right after your 20-week scan!), and what happens if your baby is already here.

👉 Comment TIMING and I'll send the link over to you.

Want to feel properly photo-ready without the stress of sorting it yourself?

Before any of your photo sessions, I can arrange for my hair and makeup artist Nadezhda to come to you at home - so you arrive at the studio already feeling great - without the added rush or stress of doing it yourself.

For newborn sessions, Nadezhda comes to the studio instead, so I can get started with baby straight away while you're being looked after. And if you'd prefer the full pampered experience in the studio from the start, that can be arranged too.

Just mention it when you get in touch and I'll take care of everything.
