Does it cost extra to book a newborn photoshoot when you’ve got twins?

No – absolutely not! I love photographing twins so if anything, it’s a treat for me! 😅

In all seriousness, I know having twins comes with a lot of extra costs and it can be rare to find a service that doesn’t charge extra for multiple babies. So, no, no extra charges here. 🥰

They were only a baby five minutes ago.

HOW are they starting school next month!? 😭😭😭

It's a huge milestone.

New school, new friendships, new routines – it's a lot to take in (for them and for you).

It's a moment that deserves more than a quick snap on the doorstep.

I'd love to give you photos that mark this chapter properly, capturing your child exactly as they are now – oversized uniform and all. 🥹

Book your School Portrait Experience for £179 and you'll get both traditional and relaxed portraits – plus some fun photos too. And if you've got older kids in school, they can all get involved. Every photo is included, so there's no tough choices to make.

I've got spaces throughout August and into September too. Comment FIRSTDAY to grab yours.

Everyone wants digital photos nowadays, but here's the thing...

I hate the idea of you investing in professional photographs only for them to end up buried on your phone or lost on a hard drive somewhere. 👎

I wrestled with this for a good few years. Digital files are important - I get that. You want to share them, put them on different devices and have them with you wherever you go.

But I also know what happens when that's all you get.

Sure they'll have pride of place on your phone screen or profile picture.

For a while... Until something else comes along.

You'll get around to printing them 'someday.'

But they get buried amongst all the other photos you've taken. And someday never comes.

So here's how I work:

When you book with me, you're not just getting files to sit on your computer. You're getting the full experience - the kind where you actually see your memories properly displayed, where we sit down together and choose what deserves pride of place in your home, where your kids grow up seeing themselves loved and valued every single day.

Digitals? They're absolutely a part of it.

But so are beautiful prints, wall art that makes you stop in your tracks, tangible memories you can hold.

Because THAT'S where the real magic happens. 😍

Not tucked away. Not waiting for 'someday.'

Actually there. Where you can see them and enjoy them. That's what you're really investing in.

Not buried on your phone. Not waiting for 'someday.'

'What if my baby doesn't play ball during their newborn photoshoot?'

It's a common concern, but you really don't need to worry.

One thing my clients regularly comment on is my patience. I've been doing this a long time now and I can handle whatever your little one throws at me.

Because I only ever schedule one newborn photoshoot per day, we'll never feeling rushed, and can go entirely at your baby's pace.

If they are just having a fussy day, I've got ways of soothing them, from the toasty 26°C temperature to keep baby comfortable even when undressed, to the white noise machine and even a gentle vibration feature on the posing table. I'll usually try to soothe baby myself, because we all know that the second they catch a whiff of Mum, they'll decide it's snack time!

If baby is wide awake and refusing to sleep, then I'll make the most of it by capturing their big bright eyes, their funny little expressions, and those gorgeous stretches, before gently encouraging them to sleep with my expert swaddling skills! Parents are usually amazed at how content that makes their little one, and how quickly they drift off.

Sometimes the newborns I work with are genuinely struggling with wind, reflux, or other tummy troubles. In these cases, I'll adjust the plan to avoid certain types of poses that might make them uncomfortable. And if they are truly unwell, we simply pause and reschedule.

Even when parents leave feeling like it was a complete disaster, they're always happily surprised.

'When it comes to maternity photoshoots, I often get asked 'do you have dresses big enough to fit me in the studio?'

Absolutely - aside from a few poorly thought out (but very beautiful!!) purchases I made at the start of my business, I always make sure that all the dresses I buy are as large as I can! That way I can make sure clients of all shapes and sizes look and feel great during their session, as the dresses can be pulled in to suit their body type. Plus, I've got some stunning fabrics in the studio we can fashion too.

In 1975 there was a study carried out to see how children's self-esteem was impacted by seeing photographs of themselves. Researchers gave Polaroid cameras to a group of 9-10 year olds and got them to take 60 photos of themselves over five weeks - different poses, different moods, all sorts. Then they made scrapbooks with them.

Here's the interesting bit: the kids themselves didn't notice any difference in how they felt about themselves.

But their teachers spotted a 37% improvement in confident, positive behaviours! The control group who didn't do the photography project only showed a 10% improvement.

So even though the kids couldn't necessarily articulate it themselves, seeing photos of themselves actually changed how they showed up in the world.

And that was just five weeks with a Polaroid camera.

This has always been interesting to me, particularly since lots of photographers cite this as actual evidence that you should be showing off photos of your children at home. I've always refrained from going that far, but it kind of makes sense, doesn't it?

When you fill your home with photos and memories of your kids, you're showing them that they have somewhere they'll always belong, and that they're loved, no matter what. Not tucked away on a phone or hidden in the cloud - actually up on the walls where they can see them every day.

That's a pretty good message in my books!

So tell me - do you have many pictures of your kids up in your home? The kind that make you smile every time you walk past?

P.S. If the answer's no... maybe it's time to change that? 😉

Everyone says time goes fast. But no one actually prepares you for HOW fast.

I had a newborn session in the studio, and when mum came back a week later to see her photos, I could see the difference in her baby straight away – bigger, more alert, and already visibly different from the tiny newborn in her photographs.

In just 7 days.

Those first few weeks fly by in a blur of sleepless nights and endless nappies – and before you know it, that newborn scrunch has all but disappeared. And you're left wondering where on earth that time went.

Reserving your newborn session after your 20-week scan is the easiest way to make sure you don't miss out on capturing it.

Comment or DM NEWBORNSESSION and I'll send over the link to get started.

'When should I book my maternity photoshoot for?'

My favourite time to photograph maternity sessions is between 32 and 34 weeks. That usually means that:

❤️ Your bump is beautifully round by that point
❤️ You're still comfortable moving around
❤️ There's plenty of time before baby arrives

Of course, everyone's different, so there's no need to panic if that short window doesn't suit you. Get in touch to chat about the ideal time for your session.

Most photographers will ask you to book your newborn photoshoot while you're still pregnant. But how can you do that if you don't know when baby's going to arrive?
