Neil was born and raised in Scotland and has pretty much worked in photography since he left school in 1994 at 17 years old. He moved to London and assisted some of the best Advertising and Commercial photographers in the UK before moving to his first professional role with the countries leading family portrait franchise in 2002 . After 6 years, he wanted a break from working weekends and so he mo

ved in to a management role for a merchandise marketing firm in Buckinghamshire. In June 2010, Neil's first daughter was born and with this, he and his wife made the decision to move to Somerset where they had another little girl. He found he had really missed photography over the previous few years so he decided it was time to launch his own studio and at the beginning of 2013, Made Portraits opened its doors. Since opening, Neil has won Print Photographer of the Year in 2019 with the Guild of Photographers; the Master Photographers Association Southern Region Portrait, Pet, Creative and Overall Photographer of the Year titles both in 2020 and 2021 and International Commercial Photographer of the Year in 2021 as well.
