Efficiency.
After weeks, and sometimes months, of calls/planning/finalising details of the work to be done, it can sometimes feel like the job goes by in a flash.
A lot of videographers opt for a fast set up with the intention of making things ‘easier’ for the client: in and out, minimal fuss, stick a light here and crack on, don’t take up too much of their time.
I always feel like it’s worth taking that extra bit of time on the day to light properly, take the pace down a notch and try and get the most out of the time filming together. Why spend time deliberating over every other detail then rush the most important part?
There can be a lot of pressure when a client is waiting and you’re fiddling with lights, c-stands and diffusion, trying to get the right mood, levels and atmosphere for the shot.
However, I’ve never had anyone complain about this once they see the final footage and I’ve communicated on the day what im trying to achieve and blocked out enough set up time beforehand.
