Iain Waterston Photography

Iain Waterston Photography A professional photographer based in the south side of Glasgow specialising in commercial, food, weddi This is one of my favourite elements of photography.

I am a professional photographer based in the south side of Glasgow, Scotland. My passion for photography started at a very young age as my father was and still is a very talented photographer. I would often go out with him to photograph the surrounding countryside where we stayed and spend hours waiting at the bottom of our loft ladders when he was in his darkroom developing the film. Eventually

when I was old enough I started going up into the darkroom with him to help develop the negatives and final prints. The combination of complete darkness, the smell of the chemicals and the anticipation of waiting to see if our exposures were going to turn out the way we imagined! I think this is what hooked me to the art of photography, that and I got to spend time with my dad. Today I use a Nikon digital SLR to take most of my photographs where as my father still uses film and completely refuses to move over to the digital world. I have one of his old SLR's an Olympus OM-D and I use it on the odd occasion, the hard part is getting him to let me use his darkroom! My personal photography is mainly focused on landscape and street photography and all the interesting and weird shapes created in the world around us. As for my professional work I am a jack of all trades covering food,commercial/corporate, product, social and wedding photography. Basically if you need it photographed I will do it. What I enjoy the most about photography is trying to capture what I am feeling at that moment in time rather than what I am seeing. My personal style tends to favour monochrome but if the image is going to be in colour it will most likely be dark and moody, this comes from years of working with my father. Professionally my style changes to to suit clients needs but when I can influence workloads I always use natural light where available to keep the shots as natural looking as possible. Well I guess that's it from me, hope you enjoy the photographs! Thanks Iain

“Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them”

Had a great opportunity to feature in this months edition of The Photographer.

This is a fantastic magazine full of great info and imagery, its such a privilege to feature amongst some awesomely talented photographers.

Joel the editor of the magazine and I spoke just after completing my stint at Cop26 and decided that the experience would make a decent article in the upcoming edition.

As some of you may know I tend to take things in my stride and make light of tough situations, hopefully you can read the article via the photos or the magazine itself and see how this transcribed on to paper......oh and there are photos too :)
