I love photographing people, and being creative is a big part of what makes this job so rewarding. But last Monday, I had the chance to experience another aspect of the job that I truly enjoy—attending a convention. It’s a great opportunity to catch up with friends in the industry, learn something new, try out some cool gear, and maybe even pick up a few things along the way.

CLOSING THE DOOR!!!
…on the 2023 SWPP Weekly Photographic Competitions!! It’s been a great year for James Turner Photography and although I lost out on a few wins, it’s driving me to improve my game and deliver better images for both my clients and myself!

OOPPSS I DID IT AGAIN!!!
Yes it’s over two weeks since 2023 ended so this news is fairly old now, but with snow warnings a-foot it seems the perfect time.

The theme before Christmas for the SWPP Weekly Photographic Competitions was ‘Weather’, and as soon as I heard it I knew I had an image worth entering. And on my birthday I found out it had WON!!!!

The winning image was taken in Gerrards Cross near one of my favourite hotspots to photograph clients looking for a more natural setting.

The Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers (SWPP) is one of the worlds largest organisations for pro photographers with a membership in the thousands that span the entire globe, so a real honour.

THE AWARDS ARE BACK!!!
Ok so I dropped the ball after taking a break from entering any images into the SWPP Weekly Photographic Competitions as I prepared images, but forgot to actually send them in 😞
But James Turner Photography is back at it with a bang!!!!

Last weeks theme was ‘Rings’, and of all the many MANY weddings I’ve covered I decided to enter a ring shot taken at Claire and Matt’s wedding down in Brixham. The album was still open from entering a previous round, which I didn’t win, but I got there in the end 🙂

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!
After such a great photograph award winning steak with the SWPP for James Turner Photography it had to come to an end sooner or later didn’t it!! 😞

The theme that caught me out was ‘In The Sunshine’ and although I felt the image attached to this post was good, it could only get me 2nd place! Which makes me the first looser 😞

This gorgeous shot of Claire and Matt was taken down in Brixham. And coincidently I had the pleasure of shoot Matt’s brother Damien and his new wife Karen this very weekend gone for their wedding in Windsor!

I am on holiday for a week or two but will hopefully get back into the swing of producing more award winning photos to share online.

AMAZ-ZING!!!
You’ve probably guessed it already, but it’s another award winning photograph with the SWPP for James Turner Photography in 2023!

Slightly different image this week as the theme was ‘GLASS’.

I captured this image while playing with refraction photography and some rather lovely Baccarat champagne flutes.

The results for week 23 are in already and… we’ll come back Monday to hear the news!!
