As the saying goes, this weekend has been 'lovely weather for ducs'. Here are a particularly clean pair spotted Ryka's Cafe yesterday afternoon. Yes that is the snappily titled Ducati Panigale v2 bayliss 1st championship 20th anniversary edition 😎

Thursday throwback to my first bike, a '69 plate Honda CB125R. This 2019 model had just 13.1bhp but weighing just 126kg, it was an absolute hoot to ride. I loved the neo-classic looks, LED headlight, the modern dash and switchgear. I'd recommend the later model to anyone looking to start out in motorcycling as it was such a forgiving bike to practice on.

Anyone who played Sega Rally in the 90's will instantly recognise this car. I always picked the Celcia when in the arcades, I was a little obsessed with it. I loved it so much that my first 'proper' kit RC car was a Tamiya TL-01 chassis with the '97 Monte Carlo liveried Celica body.

The Toyota Celica GT Four rally car won 30 rallies across its various chassis iterations. This model is infamous for Toyota's rule-bending air restrictor. The competition car featured a sprung plate that would allow 25% more airflow to the turbo, providing an additional 50hp in use, that would close up when the turbo was disengaged, thus making it nearly impossible to discover.

One of only 2500 built to meet the homologation requirements for Group A, it made 239hp from a turbocharged 2-litre 4-cylinder engine with water injection and anti-lag installed (but not activated). The GT Four also had fancy multi-link front suspension, the big brakes off of the twin-turbo supra of the time and of course that big adjustable wing on the boot lid. Jerry Walsh's replica was created to promote his wheel repair business and with the full WRC livery it certainly turned heads.

Another beast spotted at Whiteways a couple of weeks ago. A 2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4S. The aggressive styling is uniquely Ducati. I love the brow running light and the arched brake/turning light cluster that is framed by the rear bodywork. The tank and what little bodywork is fitted are finished in anniversary red, a fantastic contrast to the satin finished carbon fibre and the bronze engine casings.

A 'super' naked bruiser of a bike, you get to see all the engineering Ducati threw at this without any fairings in the way. Γ–hlins steering damper plus electronically controlled semi-active suspension front and rear, huge Brembo Stylema brakes up front, forged ali wheels, the list goes on. Beyond the catalogue of premium standard parts that Ducati adorned the streetfighter with, the modifications I spotted on this alone are worth more than my entire bike. Gilles Adjustable Rearsets, ASV levers, Evotech sump guard, Rizoma brake reservoirs and that beautiful Akrapovic exhaust.
Its 1100cc engine puts out 200hp, reined in by a host of electronics that keep the front wheel down. Love them or hate them, those Moto GP inspired winglets reportedly produce 28kg of downforce at 167mph(!). The bike itself will push all the way out to 175mph, although i can't imagine what it is like to hang on at that speed without a windscreen.

Lotus Elise are incredible, uncompromised driving machines. RWD, lightweight with naturally aspirated engines, fantastic gearboxes, direct un-assisted steering and fantastic ride/body control, they are hard to match when it comes to raw driving enjoyment.

The model pictured is probably the one i'd pick if it was my money on the table. A series 2, 111R Elise. It has all the joys of Lotus ownership paired up with the power and reliability provided by Toyota's 190bhp VVTi engine.

As a day-to-day proposition, this edition makes more sense than most, with ABS and servo-assisted brakes as standard. Lotus also rolled out the red carpet offering a touring pack this car was spec'd with. Creature comforts include electric windows and a digital radio with CD player!

This Elise was owned by the same guy who owned the incredible Integrale I posted previously, the pair of them making quite the two car garage.

Shooting commercially, it was rare that I had the chance to capture the bond between 'man and machine'. There is something special about capturing the relationship between an owner and their ride and it is one of the reasons i've enjoyed shooting motorbikes in my spare time. There aren't many people I know that are as passionate about their vehicles as my good friend Alex and we have quite the back catalogue of pics from shooting his fleet.

The VW T2 bus pictured is a LHD US import that has trekked across the UK and northern Europe to various dub shows this year. Mildly modified, it is a unique vehicle, seemingly universally loved by people of all ages whenever it is out on the road.
