No moody landscapes from me this Friday — I’ve been a “busy bee” in the garden all day 😅
The work is far from done. So many weeds. So many dandelions. Ach well.
Feeling the need to snap something between chores, I grabbed this shot of a bee on a geranium flower!
Wishing you a great weekend wherever you are! 😀

Please help if you can 🙏🙂 This August I’ll be taking part in the 25-mile Great Wilderness Challenge hoping we can raise money for several important charities, including Highland Hospice.

If you’ve enjoyed my photography over the years and would like to support a cause that means a great deal to many people here in the Highlands, we'd be hugely grateful for any donation. Every contribution really does make a difference.

You can read more about the challenge and donate using the link below.

Thank you so much for your support — and please feel free to share this post. Highland Hospice Great Wilderness Challenge

Baosbheinn, and the wee ruined crofthouse by Loch Bad an Sgalaig. I remember local Annie Warren once telling me that horses were kept there, and that the ground is still marked to this day by their walking round and round the croft over many years.
Over the years, I’ve also enjoyed wandering the remote hills of Wester Ross, trying to find views that feel a wee bit different. In this case, I wanted to take advantage of the amazing textures of light and shade, and create a composition that took in the crofthouse, the loch, and as much of Baosbheinn’s long ridge as possible.

Sunset Squalls Over Badachro
I love the mountains, and I love wandering through our remote glens and over our local hills. For me, there aren’t many better ways to celebrate a birthday evening than enjoying a packed lunch surrounded by nature, so a few evenings ago my wife and I did exactly that. We sat and watched the squalls come and go, looking down over the white houses of Badachro towards the northern tip of the Isle of Skye.

Icy showers with a dollop or two of warm sun - we headed up the beautiful, less-frequented NW ridge of Baosbheinn yesterday, trying to keep our legs in shape ahead of taking part in the Great Wilderness Challenge in a few months’ time.
On the way I caught this moody scene just as a hail shower swept through, looking towards Sgorr Dubh. Liathach is just visible to the left, with the Horns of Beinn Alligin rising on the right.

Isle of Harris – Niosaboist, Tràigh Iar.
A few evenings ago: the ocean in full motion, wave after wave rolling in. I loved the contrast between the cool tones of the water and the warm light on the sand as the sun dropped into the Atlantic. One of many incredible seascapes just across the Minch from home - and such a lovely welcome - tapadh leibh, Visit Outer Hebrides Chì mi thu a dh’aithghearr 😊
