Ok here's my very first Focus Stacked attempt so please judge me with that in mind. It's obviously a dead moth but I'm calling it 'Jon Snow'

I used the Canon MP e 65mm on a 5D. I ended up using static lights as I wanted to use the shoe to drive a remote to stop the camera shake and I couldn't find a way to have both the flash and remote.

-As a first test, I just used JPG's even though I shot RAW as well. I figured as this was just my initial tests it didn't matter.
-I took about 40 images from back to front.
-I should have taken more time on the lighting as a ton of areas blew out in the stacking.
-It's heavily cleaned up in Photoshop
-I used Photoshop to focal stack it
-I used the align all layers first.

All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the workflow (not so much with the final) but I had to do a ton of messing to get the hardware how I wanted it and thats helped me work a load of stuff out.

I'm getting into using some of the new Macro kit we've bought. The Canon MP E 65mm Macro is not for the new user as the depth of feild is so tiny. It's going to take some serious testing to make it work in the way I want it to. I'm so used to a 105mm Sigma Macro and being able to use it a fair distance away from the subject.

An older shot I took of an Orange Baboon Tarantula (Pterinochilus Murinus) I want to go back and shoot this big girl with a much better lens.

Started to look for subjects today but I did t have a whole lot of time so I’m not that impressed with Day 1 results.

After reading and watching a few videos on focus stacking I thought I’d get something reasonably cheap to get me started. I’ve never done a single focal stack so it’s completely experimental this week.

I bought this little beastie.
