Today is World Puffin Day! 🐧

With their colourful beaks and charming personalities, puffins have long captured the imagination of those lucky enough to spend time with them.

I love spending time watching and photographing these little guys.

Recent solar flares are resulting in great views of the northern lights at the moment. Last night saw shows all over the UK from Cornwall to the northern isles and across the northern hemisphere. Tonight’s forecast is for more with reports coming in far and wide.

You don’t t need expensive camera equipment to capture them either-a smartphone camera with its low aperture is ideal. This guide is for iphones, but the principal is the same for any modern phone. Just remember to hold the phone still and steady.

A top tip for viewing the show, is to view it through your camera and phone screen-the phone can pick up far more light and colour in the sky than your eyes can.
