This is what a wedding looks like when you live in the moment…

Amber & Tim’s day at Buxted Park Hotel was relaxed, joyful and full of the people they love most.

No fuss.
No forcing anything.

Just a brilliant day unfolding exactly as it should.

There were plenty of laughs, but also a few tears.

A particularly emotional first look with Amber’s dad before the ceremony had pretty much everyone reaching for a tissue. And then if that wasn’t enough, his speech later on finished the job 🥹

Honestly, those are some of my favourite moments to photograph.

Not because they’re perfectly planned.

But because they’re real.

The look on a dad’s face when he sees his daughter in her wedding dress.
The deep breath before trying to get through a speech.
The laughter and tears happening at the same time.

Those are the moments that tell the story of a wedding day.

And Amber & Tim’s day was full of them.

“Not entirely sure how you did it...”

This landed in my inbox recently:

*”I’ve always felt incredibly un-photogenic, but these are all so incredible.”*

And honestly, as someone who absolutely hates having her own photo taken, that means a lot.

Because when couples tell me they’re worried about looking awkward, uncomfortable or un-photogenic, I get it.

I really do.

The truth is, most of the people in my photos aren’t models. They’re normal people who feel a bit nervous about being in front of a camera.

My job isn’t to make you pose perfectly.

It’s to make you feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera.

To give you space to enjoy your wedding day.

To help things feel easy.

And somewhere in all of that, the photos happen.

Not because you’re photogenic.

Because you’re happy.

And that will win every time. 🤍

OK I’m going to say it…

Biodegradable confetti is just better 🎉👀

As a wedding photographer, I will die on this hill.

It floats around properly, catches the light beautifully, and gives you those chaotic happy confetti photos instead of three bits immediately hitting the floor.

Also, top confetti walk tips while we’re here, from someone who has swallowed more confetti than most!

No one talks about the glamorous side to wedding photography ….

What people see:
beautiful, relaxed wedding photos.

What’s usually happening behind the scenes:
me folded like a pretzel on a floor, hanging off something questionable, or sacrificing my knees for the angle.

But it’s always worth it!!!

Because the difference between a nice photo and a *really good* one is being willing to forsake my dignity for The Shot!

Thinking about an outdoor wedding ceremony?

Here’s the honest bit no one really talks about…

You can’t guarantee the weather.

You can check the forecast a hundred times, you can plan everything perfectly…
and it can still change on the day.

This stunning wedding of Lucia & James at Buxted Park Hotel is proof of that —
the forecast in the lead-up was terrible.

But on the day?

It turned out like *this*.

That’s why the key with an outdoor wedding ceremony isn’t perfect weather…
it’s being open to going with it.

Have a solid backup plan.
Be ready to be flexible.
Trust that the day will still be exactly what it’s meant to be.

Because when you let go of trying to control it all, that’s when it starts to feel easy.

And honestly? Those are usually the best days.

You don’t need to know how to “pose” for your wedding photos…

This is literally it.

Walking, chatting, laughing at something random —
just being in it together.

I’ll give you a bit of direction when you need it,
but mostly? I’ll just let things unfold.
