A juvenile Blue tit, I took this image a few weeks ago when there were plenty of young birds about, it looks quite soft against the harshness of a branch of dead Gorse.

When you catch any of the Corvid family in the right light, in this case a Raven, a multitude of different shades of blues, purples & greens become visible, making a very black, and rather glossy bird far from being just black.

Sorry not sorry !!
More Buzzards just because I love them and they can actually be very challenging, this one is a different bird from the last buzzard post, I'm thinking going by the size a female and possibly the mother, this particular morning this bird paid 3 visits to the feeding station and only on the 2nd visit did she stay long enough, just a few minutes, to get a few images, forever wary !
Monday's session in my other hide wasn't quite so successful, just over 13 hours and no visitors other than a few magpies and a couple of crows.

GRAPHIC WARNING !!

Aside from the Buzzards another amazing bird to visit my feeding station is the Raven, top of the Corvids coming in at a similar size to the Buzzard itself, and almost as wary, not quite so much a predator as the raptor but a very adapt carrion feeder.

One came in on my last visit to the hide for the first time in quite a few years and picked up an old chicken egg, so to entice it down this time I put out a couple more and they didn't take long to get spotted, the Raven took one (image in comments) a god indication of the Ravens beak size, and the magpies soon demolished the second, within the next hour the large Corvid returned to make a start on the rabbit, a vital member of the clean up crew.

Stanpit marsh in Christchurch can get pretty busy on a weekend but if you get there before sunrise you can find yourself all alone.

I have found a spot there on an outlet to the main harbour that I head to every time, I unroll my waterproof mat onto the wet muddy sand and wait to see what turns up, on this particular morning I had a multitude of species including Redshank, Black-headed gulls, coot, and this Curlew, a species that I love to photograph but still never gets quite close enough, what beautiful light though.
