The image on the left is a message I sent to the Samaritans years ago. I was in a dark place, struggling heavily with depression, and feeling completely hopeless.
At that moment, I couldn’t see a path forward.
The image on the right is a feature in the newspaper about my photography business, my international recognition, and the work I do to give back to our community.
If you had told the person who wrote that first message where she would be today, she wouldn’t have believed you.
I’m sharing this today because social media is often just a highlight reel. We see the awards, the success, and the smiles, but we don’t always see the mountain someone had to climb to get there. My own struggles with mental health are a massive part of why I do what I do - they are a catalyst for my work and the reason I am so passionate about using photography to support charities and families.
