Something a bit different.
I wasn’t planning on photographing the eclipse on Wednesday.

Saw it starting, grabbed my camera, and had about two minutes to get something good. No time to set up, no time to overthink it. Just instinct and experience kicking in.

And honestly? That’s most of my wedding days too.

You can plan a timeline all you want, but the best moments never send a warning. The first look. The best man completely losing it during the speech. The quiet second before you walk down the aisle.

I don’t get a rehearsal for those. I just have to be ready, know my gear, and trust what I’ve learned from hundreds of weddings to get the shot before it’s gone.

Today it was an eclipse. On your wedding day, it’s you two. Same skillset either way.

forced poses. No “everybody say cheese.” Just two people who forgot a camera was even there.

This is the stuff I chase on wedding days — the in-between moments nobody plans for. The look across the room, the laugh mid-speech, the quiet second before it all kicks off again. Documentary style means I’m not directing your day, I’m just there for it.

Little camera tip for you 📸 Shooting in Aperture Priority? Set a minimum AND maximum shutter speed in your settings. Camera won’t drop below your minimum, so no more blurry shots when the light gets low — it just bumps the ISO instead. Set it and forget it.

Just remember when you have your wedding photos, I'm capturing something that you might not see again. The family and friends that might disappear, but you will have the memories of them on that day.

Every couple has a worry before their wedding day. Usually the same ones.

Not photogenic. Something going wrong. Hating the photos. Feeling awkward in front of a camera.

None of that matters with documentary style. No posing, no forced smiles, no standing around waiting to be told where to look. Just the day, as it actually happens.

That’s the whole idea behind how I shoot.
