Hellooo everyone 👋 I hope you are having a great weekend so far!

I went back to work this week, after having a couple of weeks off, galavanting around the highlands, in the camper van, up some hills and also spent some time in Aberdeenshire at a lovely little Air BnB by the sea… and what’s a trip to Aberdeenshire without a stop at Bow Fiddle?!

I keep saying I’m going to make more of an effort and that I’ll get back to taking photos, so here’s my first of 2023 😂 better late than never, right?

Allt Dearg cottage is that well known ex-shepherds hut, surrounded by waterfalls and incredible views of the Black Cuillin. Behind the cottage, you can see three main peaks of the Black Cuillin Ridge – Sgurr nan Gillean, Am Basteir and Bruach na Frithe.

Hello folks 👋 it’s been a while!

This weekend consisted of a quick trip up to Skye via Fort William and back, and although it was a quickie, it was amazing to just get away from the doorstep and get out there taking photos again. You may or may not be happy to hear that I have that photography bug once again 📷 anyway, this one was taken down at the magnificent Elgol shoreline at sunset.

Hopefully you lot like it!

Kyleakin Harbour
📍Kyleakin, Isle of Skye.
__________

After having dinner down this way at a place called Legend of Saucy Mary’s, I caught the sunset down at Kyleakin Harbour. The ruins in the background are of Caisteal Maol.

Apparently this castle belonged to a Norse princess and her husband, who were said to have laid a heavy chain across the narrow sound between the Misty Isle and the mainland. They would demand that any ship passing through, pay them a toll to do so.

Saucy Mary was aptly named this, as she was said to flash the ships from the turret of the castle, in an attempt to attract the sailors, and would force them to pay the toll.

On a side note, I had to edit a transit van out of this one, as it was totally ruining the shot… sooo this isn’t perfect but was a bit of a faf, so gave up😅 hopefully you still like it!

Some hazy, pastel tones towards Chaipaval, from Luskentyre beach at sunset. I think the majority of my shots from my recent trip to the Isle of Harris, were of this amazing little hill, that I did walk up this time around!

That place everyone wants to visit in Durness 🤷‍♀️ but who can blame them, when you get such amazing views of the blue-green water and those white sandy beaches?!

_________

Stac a’ Phris is a natural sea arch, situated along the rugged, Isle of Lewis coastline.

This was taken as Storm Alex began to hit Scotland, bringing with it 45 mph winds. I did enjoy the waves, but not so much the wind!

Have you visited this gem, or is it on your to-do list? 💎

Sorry I’ve been rather quiet lately and haven’t been updating. Hopefully I’ll have some new content soon ✌️ 😂 As you can tell, even C-dog needed a break!

📍 Port Edgar, South Queensferry.
__________

A 0500 alarm that turned into a 0530 alarm, followed by a mad dash to the bridges yesterday after rolling out of my bed, as I knew that I would be kicking myself if I had missed out on the fog and high tide combo, at sunrise.

📍 Milarrochy Bay, Loch Lomond
__________

One from a little last minute run to Milarrochy Bay for sunset, on Sunday (which I missed). The Loch was full to the brim with all that rainfall that we’ve had lately, and a lot of the trees were deep in water. Definitely a big change from the last time I came to this place, as there was hardly any water!
