~ Some work from last year (continuing): 'Pandemic'. Using colour film, I documented life during the first lockdown and what has become a pivotal point in history. It was isolating, bizarre and empty when everything became a stagnant moment in time.
Like so many, my mental health struggled to cope with the restrictions, the news and the deaths. I decided to reflect these emotions using the 'film soup' process on my mountain of film rolls, resulting in these dream-like, distorted and stained photographs. ~

I'm thrilled to say I have finished uni for Christmas after what feels like an eternity of a term πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„. Saying that, I've had the most wonderful time experimenting and creating new stuff for my practice. Here's some images from my SDA 'The Cost of Lies' which reveals the consequences of the political fabrication and human errors following the Chernobyl nuclear explosion in 1989.

My current self devised assignment at uni! It’s inspired by the letters of Van Gogh which sheds light on every facet of the life and work of this complex and tortured man. Engaging candidly and movingly with his religious struggles, his ill-fated search for love, his attacks of mental illness and his relation with his brother Theo, the letters contradict the popular myth of van Gogh as an anti-social madman and a martyr to art, showing instead a man of great emotional and spiritual depths. Like Gogh, I have found much inspiration, peace and solace in nature and for this project I am taking photographs of various flowers, plants and trees, oceans and skies and combing them with Van Gogh’s paintings which creates these unique and psychedelic images. I also have a side project creating collages using paintings and portraits which is super fun 🌻🌻🌻
