What a fierce sunset after a stormy unsettled day.

I've had some of the most intense sunsets after these types of days. Hard cold heavy rain throughout the day with a biting wind. It looked bleak, but around 15h00 the clouds broke.

There were hints it would kick off and the underlighting started just before sunset at 15h50. By 16h04 the sky was alight with deep red streaking and deep blue undertones. An apocalyptic inferno at its peak.
It raged for about 20 minutes before fading away into subtle pastel hues.

The best sunset I've seen in months. It was a great end to a cold old day.

Evening everyone.
Here are a few images of the Greater flamingos at s'Albufereta reserve on Northern Mallorca. This trip has been the best I've had for photographing Flamingos.
They did unfortunately push the nesting waders off their islands as they traversed across. Hopefully they didn't do too much damage.

Lots of Common Terns making their presence felt in the wetlands. This particular individual was warning off a competitor after landing on this perch.
Watching Terns glide across the marshes is a beautiful sight. Their high creaking like call is amazing to hear and their food passes are spectacular. Well worth seeing.

Morning all.
I'm back from a wonderful trip to Mallorca. I spent a few days visiting various sites across the north of the island.
I was fortunate to see several species of wader chicks as they emerged to explore their new surroundings.

The Black Winged Stilts were out and about when I dropped into the hides. The parents are fiercely protective and will chase off any bird that gets too close. Every now and then they will call their fledglings over and allow them to snuggle underneath.

I'll post more as I edit them.
