When I went through the process of my rebrand, I was forced to do a deep dive into my business, my values and what makes Rachel Fairfield Studio special. Because at the end of the day, if you don’t know what makes YOU different, you can’t help clients understand if you’re the right photographer for them.
I’ve realised that it comes down to a few main strengths, which together combined, make me fairly unique in my perspective and my approach to family photos.
1. I REALLY understand babies and their needs. “Don’t all newborn photographers and mums understand this?” I hear you ask? Actually no. Most mums wing it and get through somehow, but understanding babies’ sleep cycles, awake windows and body language is a different thing. We worked with a sleep consultant when my first born was just 6 weeks and I still use what I learnt at that time in every single baby session. This helps me get the best for you from your session.
2. I understand the value of photographs and preserving memories. Only when you’ve lost someone close to you do you experience how photos and memories are all you have left at the end. The importance of capturing those milestones and being present in them cannot be underestimated. Be in the picture. It doesn’t need to be perfect, but be in it! I want that for you because I know how it feels when you no longer have that option.
3. Having had three babies, I’m so familiar with how those early days can feel. They can be truly amazing but they can also feel tough. Sleep deprivation, body changes, altered or lost identities, a tough fertility journey or traumatic delivery can all combine to make parents feel like they’re not enough, not doing enough, not connecting enough. I believe that having beautiful pictures of you with your baby can help you see your self through others’ eyes and can act as a form of healing. You are enough and all that your baby needs right now.
