You really don’t appreciate the sheer scale of a wind turbine blade until you see one up close. An incredible sight today — and some job for the people at Mar-Train Heavy Haulage Ltd tasked with getting something this size safely from A to B!

The one thing you can always count on with Irish skies is their impeccable timing when it comes to blocking any celestial event! 😂 The clouds finally broke for a few seconds—just in time to catch the eclipse about two minutes after totality. Of course! 😭🌘

If ever there was proof of the esteem in which Con McGerty was held, today was it.

An incredible turnout gathered for the very first Con McGerty Memorial Tractor Run, as friends, neighbours and tractor enthusiasts came together to honour the memory of the much-loved Lahernahone man.

For many local lads, their very first driving lesson came not in a driving school car, but behind the wheel of Con's famous Massey Ferguson 35, PID 329. It became something of a local tradition, with generations learning the basics of driving on Con's trusted tractor. It was especially fitting that the convoy was led by his nephew, Eamonn Gaffney, at the wheel of Con's beloved Ferguson.

The weather played a blinder, making it a perfect day to remember Con and enjoy the wonderful display of tractors, friendship and community spirit.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported such a worthy cause, with proceeds going to Ballyconnell Youth Club. Your generosity and support made the day a tremendous success.

Special thanks to An Garda Síochána for giving me a spin ahead of the convoy so I could capture these photographs, and to Gerard Donohoe, who came to the rescue with a teleporter at the last minute, allowing me to get up high for the final group photograph.

Con's legacy lives on, not only in the countless people who got their first taste of driving thanks to him, but also in the memories shared by everyone who gathered today. I hope these photographs capture a little of what was a truly special day.

What a cracking day at last Sunday's Annual Charity Pony Drive organised by Cootehill Pony Club🐴☀️

This year's chosen charity was Ballybay Cancer Care, and it was brilliant to see 19 horses turn out for the day. There was plenty of fun, laughter and good-natured banter from start to finish – exactly what these days are all about!

The auction and raffle afterwards were as entertaining as ever... and, like plenty of others, I somehow managed to come home with a boot full of "bargains"! 🤣 More importantly, every bid and every raffle ticket sold helped support a fantastic local cause.

The auction and raffle are sure to have raised a wonderful amount for Ballybay Cancer Care, so stay tuned to the Cootehill Pony Club page to find out the final total raised.

And as always, the food was absolutely delicious – I don't think anyone went home hungry! 😋

A huge well done to everyone who organised, volunteered, donated, took part and supported the day. Events like these are a great reminder of what community spirit is all about. Looking forward to next year's drive already! ❤️🐎

📸 If anyone would like prints of any of the photos from the day, just send me a message and I'll be happy to help.
