Britain's largest wading bird, the Curlew, on the Red List. Dangerously declined.

A morning walk at Ouse Fen and I caught it just as I was heading home, after hearing it chirp across the fen.

A Linnet at Ouse Fen

Managed to catch my first ever Great Reed Warbler at Ouse Fen 🤩 Apparently there are only 5 - 20 in the UK!!!

So loud across the reeds! Video coming soon.

In only a couple of hours we saw so much on a beautiful Sunday afternoon walk ☀️

Cranes overhead, 2 Hobbies sharing lunch, Marsh Harriers all over the place, 4 Bitterns booming, Heron gliding through, Sedge, Reed and Cetti’s Warblers chirping away too.

Things I didn't know about Great Reed Warblers:

Their song can carry up to 500 metres across a reedbed.

Most that turn up here are young ones that drift off course on migration.

They’re about four times heavier than a Sedge Warbler!
