Photography course for the keen enthusiast -
Introduction to still life photography
We will talk about:
Your camera - where are the right settings and how to change them
Problem solving when shooting
Lighting - natural, artificial and combination of both
Composition - how to compose our photos; what are the basic composition rules
Colour theory - how to make interesting photographs based entirely on colour
Practical work
Slow shutter lighting and painting with light
Macro photography
You need:
Your digital camera with a memory card
Any other photography equipment you may want to know how to use - e.g. flash, macro extenders, etc.

Portrait photography - Introduction

For the keen amateur photographer - the basics of creating portraits including:
- Equipment: what do we really need
- People: what we should know before we start
- Posing: how to pose for a portrait
- Natural light portraits
- One light portraits: test the studio lighting and learn how create your own home studio
This in-person workshop is a chance to learn some shortcuts to creating portraits and do some studio work in a professional photography studio.
Bring someone with you - partner, child or a friend - as the workshop presents a unique opportunity to spend some quality time together and keep your photographs of one another after the session - I will make sure they are professionally edited.
Groups are small so there is plenty of time for 1 to 1 and we can look specifically at your camera settings and go over some basic photography skills as well.
The workshop is also suitable for students that would like to have access and experiment with studio lighting (under 18s must be accompanied by adult FOC)
Minimum requirements:
- A digital camera
- Some basic knowledge about photography
Optional
- SLR camera (digital or 35mm film) preferably with hot shoe
Refreshments provided
