I went to Grafton Wood on Thursday with the RPS Nature group. The day was cool and windy, with the result that not many insects or butterflies were around and the ones that were there were quite difficult to photograph.
But we still had a good day, and it's always interesting going to somewhere new - the big advantage of going with a small group is that you don't give up easily. These images were all taken towards the end of our visit.

Join us for a wildflower walk at Ladderedge Country Park. 🌼

We'll take a leisurely stroll focusing on plant life at the site but also noticing any other nature we come across.

Ladderedge has traditional hay meadows with abundant yellow rattle and records of greater butterfly, common spotted and northern marsh orchid. The site also has breeding willow tit and in recent years one or two pied flycatchers have started nesting.

Some of you will have noticed that I’ve been rather quiet on this page for a while. This is because I’ve decided to close my waterways calendar business but I wanted to make sure my retail outlets were all informed before I put it on Facebook.
