There are three things that can take a photoshoot from good to magical. None of them have anything to do with how photogenic you think you are or how comfortable you feel in front of the camera. Having been on both sides of the camera so many times, I can guarantee that these three things is what elevates a regular photoshoot to something extraodinary:
1. Vision & aesthetics. While Scotland is full of stunning locations, if you choose outfits that feel at odds with the location or there is no clear aesthetic direction, no matter how good your photographer is the photos will never have that "wow" factor. Aesthetics matter and I am here to help and advise you with yours so don't be afraid to ask!
2. Trust. Most people (including myself) naturally feel very awkward as soon as a camera is pointed towards them. Normal things that you do as a couple from day to day basis to express affection may suddenly feel weird and awkward as soon as you're in front of the camera. That's why it's so important to have a photographer who gives plenty of clear direction and to trust them completely. Then, just let yourselves go and don't worry if something feels awkward because you will most likely be astonished when you see how naturally that translates to photos.
3. Invest in a photographer who's aesthetic you adore. These photos will only increase in value with time and will be your heritage to your family so choosing the right photographer means you will be able to look back and adore them for years and decades to come, as well as using them as artwork to decorate your house with.
