I was back on the Water of Leith this weekend, after a week away. It was great to see so much activity along the river, but I couldn’t help noticing how quickly the vegetation has flourished in the last 8-9 days. There are plenty leaves on the trees and the recent growth has really transformed the landscape, making the whole area feel vibrant and alive.

Here are some shots from the weekend.

Since photographing a handful of flamingos in Greece a couple of years ago, several people suggested that I should head to Carmargue, in the south of France, where there are 100s of flamingos!

So I jumped on a train from Edinburgh, at the end of last week & headed to the south of France. It was such a thrill to see so many of these incredible birds just yards away from me.

A big 'Thank You' to all those who suggested this to me. I can now whole heartedly recommend a trip to the Carmargue to see these birds up close.

Here is a small selection, from the 100s of photos that I took.

April's 'Wildlife on the Water of Leith' video includes a bit of owl action and also a new otter cub! Lots of small creatures being born on the Water of Leith in April - some already out on the river, some still in nests/setts but Spring has definitely Sprung!

First dipper chick to fledge this morning - siblings still being fed in the nest!

We have about 15-16 pairs of dippers on the 12.75 mile walkway section of the Water of Leith - so looking forward seeing a lot more of these dipper chicks during May!
