Meet Duke ❤️ one of the 2 beautiful Kelpies at The Helix Park.
Standing at 30 metres 🐎✨
Duke is one of The Kelpies—the world’s largest equine sculptures and a massive tribute to Scotland’s legendary heavy horses. Based on two real-life Clydesdales, Duke and Baron, these steel titans bridge the gap between folklore and industrial grit.
The Backstory:
In Scottish myth, a Kelpie is a shape-shifting water spirit with the strength of ten horses. Sculptor Andy Scott used this legend to honour the real "workhorses" of the 19th century—the Clydesdales that pulled the barges and coal wagons that built modern Scotland.
Finished in 2013, they now stand as the guardians of the Forth & Clyde Canal in Falkirk, shifting from silver to gold as the Scottish sun hits the 30,000 individual steel plates.
Whether you're a history buff or just here for the scale, they are a reminder that some legends are built to last.
