「 May the Sun be with You 」

The end of a beautiful spring day in Edinburgh. Let's hope we can head out to enjoy sunsets like these soon.

「 Flight Path 」

This is the view of Edinburgh Castle that one can appreciate if travelling clockwise on Queen's Drive. Several landmarks slowly reveal themselves, even the Queensferry Crossing's towers can be seen in the distance.

「 White Edinburgh 」

The storm that battered Scotland and the rest of the UK in the past days has brought some snow to the city centre. Today was definitely the worst day so far. The 2h it took me to get home (including a 35min walk) did not prevent me from rushing up Arthur's to capture this view. When I hear 'snow' my body just moves on its own 😅

「 T 」

Lovely sunrise colours at the pier on the shores of Aberdour. The isle of Inchcolm is visible directly opposite it. I really enjoyed revisiting this part of the Fife Coastal path at the start of January. The coast never ceases to amaze.

「 Arctic Night Winterscape 」

December saw me visiting Northern Norway again. In this image are two elements that characterised the trip: snow and darkness. This panorama was taken in Ersfjordbotn near Tromso, overlooking a huge fjord. The sun never rises during this time of the year and darkness had long engulfed the landscape at 3pm.

「 Hikari e no michi 」

First photography trip of the year, exploring the Fife Coastal Path. This is the breakwater at St Monans. I decided to go for a bit of heavy editing with this shot, giving it a dreamy look. The breakwater is a path (michi) into the light (hikari).

「 New Adventures 」

Another year, another calendar. Putting 12 images together this year has been hard as I have not had many photo opportunities. Yet I made an effort to put together what to me were the highlights of 2019 in the image below. Happy New Year!

「 The Highest Point in Donegal 」

Back to where it all started: panoramic shots. In my early photography days I really enjoyed capturing wide vistas and stitch them together to get panoramas like this. I distanced myself a bit from this format recently, mainly after discovering the existence of ultra-wide angle lenses, which allow you to capture broad views in a single shot. This is a 180° view on the top Errigal, the highest hill in Co Donegal, Ireland. Looking North-West, you can see Lough Nacung Upper to the left, the North Atlantic Ocean in the distance, more hills to the right.

「 Hoarfrost 」

It was my third time climbing the Cobbler (or Ben Arthur) last Saturday. The view never fails to disappoint as the weather could not be better, with clear skies, virtually no wind and just the right amount of ice to make the climb fun. Threading the needle and stand on top has been the hardest this time as the ground was covered in frost. A fellow hillwalker asked me where I found the courage to climb the needle with those conditions, to which I simply replied 'Adrenaline'. 😅

「 Christmas at the Botanics 」

Here are some pictures of this year's light trail at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. The show really exceeded my expectations this year. They have it all: Chistmas trees, fire, lasers, origami. A truly magical experience, highly recommend going if you can get tickets. 😁

「 Rocky Shark Fins 」

The Crohy Head sea arch is amongst the coolest ones I have seen in Co Donegal, Ireland. Not far from the main road and down a steep slope, these majestic sea stacks resemble a shark's fin when seen from the right angle. The weather wasn't great in this shot, so I decided to blend the sky with the sea to make the image look dreamy. Very different than my normal editing, nonetheless I quite like this one.

「 Atop the Forge 」

Wanted to share an old unpublished shot taken a while back. This panorama was taken on top of An Teallach (meaning 'The Forge' in Gaelic) in the Surtherland region of Scotland. In the middle of the image you can see the path leading to Lord Berkeley's Seat, to the left Loch Toll an Lochain, to the right the hills of the Fisherfield forest.
