With Abandon

This past week we spent an epic few days around Glencoe for Josh & Kira’s elopement.

The day itself was a tale of two halves, where we started with wet feet from the unrelenting downpour but ended with wet feet from paddling in the sea at a glorious golden hour!

A summer elopement in Glencoe was only ever going to be possible at the crack of dawn, so we set our alarms early and geared up for a looooong day. From door to door this elopement day was 22 hours long!! Don’t worry, the couple got a lovely little break in the middle of the day (meaning we also avoid all the crowds), but no rest for the wicked as we worked to set up the next part of the adventure.

We’re so proud of the team that worked together to pull this day off and there will be many more posts to come featuring those involved. For now, enjoy this romantic round up!

As ever, we’ll kick off our grid posts for this elopement with a post dedicated to the couple.

Joel and Dee opened the door of their cosy cabin* at 02:00 with big smiles on their faces and open arms. From the first minute in their company we felt so welcome and honestly like we’d been mates for years.

We keep as much of the plan a secret for our couples as possible, only divulging the “call time” a week or so prior, leaving everything else a surprise to experience on the day!

Based on Joel and Dee’s preferences, we built a simple and honest day with embracing the landscape and avoiding crowds at its core (essentially our ethos), and my-oh-my did it make for an unforgettable day.

A few logistical challenges with the date meant an early start was inevitable, but soo worth it, just look at that light 😍

We’ll share more about how the day unfolded but for now we trust the Lake District enthusiasts to know the peak and the view well.

Joel and Dee, your gratitude was humbling. Your care for each other, and even the rest of us on the day, was endless. We loved every minute of planning your day, sharing it with you and capturing your memories.

Thank you for finding us, trusting us and ultimately putting up with us and our requests… especially the log dancing.

Honourable mentions for handling Jo’s walkie talkie karaoke warbling and Erin’s uphill complaining pre banana power.

We are super excited to finally run our first educational and storytelling workshop. We have the most amazing two jam packed days for our attendees. A total number of 5 recces have been done to ensure everything is perfect. Naturally there’s a plan B through to Z so let’s see what unfolds on the day 🤣 and more importantly let’s see how much and where this predicted snow falls 😬❄️❄️

Excited to be working with and as well as many many many other amazing suppliers who will all be revealed in good time.

Oooooooo we cannot wait to meet our 12 lovely togs and vogs in just under 5 weeks time! What an amazing bunch!!!

What does an adventure elopement look like?

For nicola and James it was an early morning hike for a wild swim and some alfresco cooking, before heading back and getting ready for a beautifully intimate ceremony.

Spending the morning this way, made for what can only be described as a core memory!

I love how, this image by itself, with no story or context, is just a couple heading off on another adventure, when the reality is they were setting the foundations for the biggest adventure of their lives so far!

What we do it more than just take pictures.

…of an era!

As we finish up our last post from the BEAUTIFUL set of 9 that has been Sarah and David’s elopement, we also say goodbye to our original business model.

We began talking about changes to WA earlier in the year when Jenny stepped back from her role. Choosing to continue on as a duo meant change was inevitable and it felt only right to extend those changes not only to how we work but also how we look… hence a new website, new logo and new “uniform”!

So, not than anyone cares but, our grid going forward will be more impulsive, more of what we want to share in the moment. Sneaks from elopements we’ve just done, and the freedom to post older shots again that we absolutely love.
More video clips, more supplier content, more tips and advice, more authentic, more of our faces!

So this might be the last 9 grid post… but it certainly won’t be the last we share from this elopement!
