The happiest of birthday's to my best girl 💞.

16 already & you couldn't be any sweeter.

9 years of growing with & loving you.

So far, it's been the adventure of a lifetime, from the highest of highs, to the lowest of lows & all that's comes between.

I'm blessed to know a horse like you on such a deep & intimate level.

This shoot was about learning to trust a horse who made it clear he wasn't ready to go yet.

What started as a simple model call with Leya and Pablo turned into something much deeper - a reminder that healing isn't always linear and trusting your gut is everything.

There was a moment, not so long ago, when they almost had to say goodbye, but Pablo chose to stay, to fight and to thrive.

This shoot felt like a celebration of that resilience and trust. Of patience. Of paying attention to your horse and following your intuition. Of listening when they tell us what they need and doing our best to show up for them and for ourselves.

That kind of connection can't be bought - only earned.

Spring is definitely in the air 🌻!

I don't know about you, but I am so looking forward to a season of brighter weather & more daylight.

I love winter for a time of cosying up, slowing down and being more intentional about how to spend the day.

But I do so love the arrival of spring when everyone leaves their period of hibernation, plants begin to flower & the widlife is much more playful.

As we enter March, the changing between the seasons is also a perfect time for capturing those special moments with your best bud.

I I know in my last post I mentioned that I usually photograph canines & equines. Which is still true.

But sometimes the opportunity arises where I get to photograph other really cool and unusual animals too.

They're not my typical client, but who's going to say no to those beautiful little faces 🤷‍♀️?

I'm certainly not!

And I'd certainly never pass up the opportunities to capture some more 😉.

I noticed a few new faces around here lately & thought it’d be best to reintroduce myself.

Hi, I’m Lisa 👋.

And I’m the mastermind behind Clever Creatures Pet Photography.

A space where we believe that pets deserve their main character moments too.

And that eternalising their beautiful personalities shouldn’t be saved only for special celebrations or because it’s one of the last things we get to share with them (though we create space for those occasions too).

For me personally that means working with pet guardians & their beloved animals (mostly equines & canines) to capture beautiful furever memories created out in nature.

My work so far has mostly taken me around Edinburgh (where I’m based) and the Lothians, but I’m always up for an adventure & would love to photograph further afield too (if that's you - let me know)!

I share my life with two beautiful animals of my own; Snip & Loki, who you’ll absolutely see here. Having the privilege of time with them is one of my greatest joys in life. It is also absolutely the biggest drive behind my business.

Currently I work both as an ecologist & pet photographer which can be pretty challenging and rewarding in its own ways, but certainly keeps life interesting.

When I’m not working, I’m most likely with my babies adventuring in nature, from beaches to woodlands and all that's in between. Any spare time outside of that is spent with friends, being creative or getting stuck into fantasy video games.

It ain't nothing like North Scotland, but I did take advantage of our wintery spell to capture these photos of my girl under the snowy sky.

I really do love the challenge of creating art with different pet's personalities, but I also really appreciate that I am very blessed with two incredibly cooperative & well trained beautiful animals.

No matter where your pet's personality happens to fall, they all deserve to be celebrated, appreciated & remembered 🐾

Location scouting with my best bud 🐾.

Y'know it's so easy to doubt your abilities, your skills or your mission in life.

And honestly I really didn't know how these photos would turn out when I took them.

The weather was pretty dull, I wasn't feeling my best self & I'm still developing the skill of being okay with allowing others to see my process in real time.

But I sat tonight & edited these & my gosh am I proud of my images, my skills & that I finally feel like I'm truly following my soul's mission.

I've been really putting intentional time into my photography over the last few months & it is such a joy to see the difference that intentional time has made.

The chapter of 2025 is so close to being closed, but there's absolutely still time to celebrate it for all it was, all it is & all it's brought you.

Whatever celebrating looks like for you tonight, I hope that it's a joyful one.

Right now I'm on holiday from my muggle job & these last few weeks have been a real wonderful time of feeling creative & channeling that energy into location scouting, editing & planning all the fun exciting things for 2026.

I've always wanted to have a chunk of time where I could really focus on myself, what I wanted & where I could serve the world, but it's something I never truly put the time aside to prioritise.

Like don't get me wrong, before I was on annual leave, I racked up a craaazy amount of TOIL (we're talking super unhealthy amount of time), but the one thing really driving me through to finish my projects was knowing I'd get to have all this time to completely dedicate to myself, my animals & to really truly go all in on my business.

Big things are coming for Clever Creatures in 2026 & even though we're at the beginning of that yellow brick road, I'm so very excited to see what the year of the Horse will bring.

I truly & absolutely believe that your dreams are always closer than you think.

And I know for a fact that there's going to be a day in 2026 where I get to go full time in my business & I get to look back at all I built along the way.

It's going to be an epic journey building to that.

And I am stoked for whoever is ready to ride this journey alongside me.

I can't wait to see what I get to create.

I can't wait to see what & how I get to share.

And I can't wait to see the ways in which I get to serve my clients along the way through 2026 and beyond.

I'm always reminded that this time of year is a beautiful time to connect with loved ones, spend time with those you cherish & get really clear about what you desire your life to be.

I'm so appreciative that I share my life with so many beautiful creatures (people included) which I do recognise is a huge priviledge.

However, it's also the life I've built for myself over the years.

There's been a lot of heartbreak.

A lot of letting go.

So much learning.

And so much beautiful growth as a result.

It might be a priviledge to live this life that I do, but I do believe everyone has the potential to access the life that they dream of, whatever that may look like for them.

So if you're feeling a little down during the holiday season, just remember that you're not a tree.

You can always move.

Unless you are a tree reading this.

In which case that's super impressive & kudos to you.

Life isn't meant to be so serious, so don't make it so.

Go out, have fun, explore, adventure and

Live.
