Sneak peek at what I'm working on...
Never worked on wildlife before so its a great learning curve. ( Im actually working on three completely different projects at the moment... The Hare, a landscape and a 3d vessel so im pacing myself on each so i dont get overwhelmed).

I always say I'm inspired by nature and by all that surrounds me... Last autumn I was able to pick up a handful of acorns in the grounds of a hotel one of my daughters and I often stay at in Scotland. I brought them home and had them sitting in wet kitchen roll in a poly bag in the fridge for a few months, then planted the three that had germinated.
One popped up a few weeks ago, another seems to be AWOL and I'm over the moon to see my second little oak tree starting its life just breaking the soil this morning ( look closely at the LH plant pot..).

I planted a Horse Chestnut seedling a few years ago that had self seeded in the middle of the lawn and that's over 10' tall now. Im hoping to pop that in the field behind the house in the next few weeks...

Watching new life appear like this is inspiring in so many ways... And i feel privileged that i can personally add to this amazing environment that im fortunate enough to call home

Sometimes life gets so busy it's necessary to take a bit of time out to just have fun.
Ive got a couple of big projects on the go at the moment plus the fast approaching Exhibition in Lincoln, so the opportunity to get together with friends from the International Feltmakers Association for a relaxing play day was too good to miss.
We had a lovely day last Sunday, swapping ideas, and generally chatting... I cant wait for the next one....

And now for something completely different... Today was earmarked as the start of a new project, but life has got in the way as it does, so instead of seeing quick progress turning circles of felt into an amazing bag, we are taking a trip to A and E...
At least I've cut out the basic lining and pocket circles ...

I Was quite nervous last night about talking to felters at an International meeting and telling them all about our weekly felting sessions to create the wall part of the community wall hanging in our local Chapel which we completed recently.

It went very well and everyone was impressed with how much we achieved on such a large scale.
The wall was wet and needle felted by a team of lovely locals ( i ran weekly felting sessions in the village a hall and now have some regular converts who love to attend my workshops). I wet felted the post.
The sky was embroidered, clouds made in lace, the barbed wire made out of dandelion stalks, and the hills appliqued ... All done by local ladies in the village

I'm now getting ready for an exhibition in a Lincoln gallery in March, so everywhere is covered in wool for the foreseeable.... But another community project is in the planning stages... Even more ambitious than this one!
So watch this space..

I will be the first to admit I am addicted to all the wonderful fibres and wools out there, but when it gets to the point where the dog couldn't get off his chair in the snug and I couldnt find my coffee this morning, I knew it was time to take action.

Having been away working most of the past few months ( 4 trips to Scotland and one to North Yorkshire), my work room had got a little out of hand...

I returned from North Yorkshire last night full of enthusiasm to get organised again...

Three and a half hours later and I feel a lot more at peace with the wool storage. Everything is sorted according to colour which is much easier than my old way of sorting according to breed. All is now labelled properly again .. just got to keep it looking like that!
