A few pics from a recent Large Munsterlander training day with Volucris on the Thoresby estate.
The history of this noble long-haired pointing dog is surprisingly old, going back to the Middle Ages. The breed has evolved from ancient longhaired hawking and retrieving dogs across Europe where they can be seen depicted in paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries.
The first Munsterlanders were imported to the UK in 1971, the same year as they were recognised by the UK Royal Kennel Club.

With the shooting season just around the corner it's time to dust my trusty cameras down!! It was nice to spend the day with Volucris last week to capture some great dogs going through their paces on ground and water
It's feels weird capturing pictures in brilliant sunshine but in a blink of an eye we'll all be out doing what we do in all weather !!

First post for a while...where the hell does the time go ?!

A few pictures here from last weekend's Jixenwell Gundogs Challenge Finals held at Sandringham. An excellent 2 days and once again, very good planning from James & Davina with help from their great working party to produce and exceptional event that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
There were some wonderful dogs on show and each one was a credit to their handlers. The weather played ball for most of the weekend although the rain started pouring down by the time we got to the very last event...(fancy dress teams).... but the rain didn't dampen the spirits and it was a real fun ending to the weekend.

Gundogs

A few pictures attached from the recent Volucris Gundog Scurry competition held at the Thoresby Eventing Spring Carnival. It's a pleasure to watch and capture the (mainly) young dogs doing their thing and showing us everything they've learnt from their training.
Full credit to all the dogs and all the handlers who competed in the competition or simply 'had a go'.

Volucris offer a great training programme to get the best out of these 'pickers up' of the future

I had planned to keep up with the post's ...but the best laid plans and all that !! After a quiet start the shooting season really kicked in early November and in the blink of an eye, here we are, 10 days away from the end of a busy season that took me up and down the UK. Here's a few images taken during this time and more to follow..just a few more shoot days to cover!!
