Happy International Dog Day!

How is it possible to make two adorable cocker spaniels even more adorable?

Photograph them against the beautiful backdrop of Northumberland in heather season, of course! Northumberland is renowned for its wide open moorland, which covers about 70 percent of the National Park. These photos were taken on the slopes of Ros Castle, the highest point in the Chillingham Hills.

This month the topic is "urban", so on Saturday I grabbed my camera, and the little fella and we headed into Durham City.

And so it turns out that my little orange country spaniel suits being an urban dog too...

Yes, we love beautiful, remote locations…but we also love an urban shoot, because they bring their own challenges, and their own beauty. And to be fair, you could photograph Fudge anywhere, and she’d look great!

Early autumn in Scotland is special. Not just the transformation from green into rich reds and oranges but the swathes of wild heather are still in bloom, hiding chuckling red grouse...and apparently little brown spaniels!

Have you ever seen a dog take his job of posing as seriously as Charlie the Daschund? I thought not!


What a handsome guy, with a natural flare for modelling. There were no treats needed for this mini shoot, and he even had time for cuddles and kisses when we had finished.
