Black Swan (Cygnus Atratus)
-
Length: 1.1-1.4m
Wingspan: 1.6-2m
Weight: 4-9kg
-
The official bird of Western Australia, the Black Swan can be found in the rivers, lakes, and swamplands of Australia, and Tasmania - however, a 2012 study confirmed at least 37 nesting pairs in the UK. Black Swans can be found on their own or in flocks, when in the water or on land this is called a bank, and whilst in the air this is called a wedge. Like the Mute Swan in the UK, the Black Swan is mongamous, often mating for life and also sharing the very territorial nature of the Mute Swan. They have the longest neck-to-body ratio of any Swan, and also swim with only one foot, with the other resting above its tail. An unmistakable bird, the Black Swan is completely black, except from its broad, white wing tips, and it's bright red bull and eyes.

Wolverine (Gulo Gulo)

Length: 65-105cm
Height (at the shoulder): 30-45cm
Weight: 9-25kg

The Wolverine is the biggest land dwelling member of the Weasel family with a well deserved reputation of being fierce and powerful. Preferring colder areas, Wolverines can be found in the Arctic and subarctic Alpine forests, Boreal forests, and grasslands of North America, northern Europe, and northern Asia. Mostly solitary animals, Wolverines excrete a strong smelling secretion called musk - similar to that of a skunk - they use this to keep others out of their territory, and to discourage others from raiding any food they have hidden. Wolverines are great tree climbers and swimmers, and have paws that almost double in size to help walking in the snow. The Wolverine can be identified by their short legs, long snouts, and long hair. They have a dark distinguishing mask around their eyes and forehead, with a blonde stripe of fur running from their shoulders the the base of their tail.

Sumatran Tigers roars can be heard up to 3 miles away. They have the narrowest stripes of all Tigers, which helps them hunt in dense forestation, where they can leap up to 10m out of bushes at their prey.
