Well things have been a little quiet here but I have managed a few flights as lockdown is slowly easing, and I will share a few over the next few days.

This one was taken yesterday, a glorious day in North Wales with recently launched into traffic Welsh Pony hauling a heritage train to Tan Y Bwlch across the Cob at Portmadog.

The background is the rarely clear Snowdon mountain range, Snowdon itself the triangle top on the left.

Not surprisngly aerial opportunities have been extremely limited in the last few weeks, and I like many others long for the opportunity and freedom to be out and about again.

However I had a real filip this week as one of my last images was selected for a full double page spread in the leading UK steam heritage magazine Steam Railway.

This is the first train of the Keighley and Worth Valley railway steam gala, one of very few events to survive this Spring period. Guest engine GWR Large prairie 4141 heads through the stone walls and mills of the west Riding with the early morning freight.

A Winter's tale ...

With the temperature just rising from freezing, A4 60009 gets the first train of the day across the Irwell river bridge and into Lumb woods already 35 minutes late at this point.

2020 is finally up and running ...

It feels like today has been the first decent day with light in 2020 so it was nice to get airbourne and go to one of the most picturesque parts of West Yorkshire, Arthington viaduct in the Wharfedale valley.
Today saw a final farewell to Class 20's for DRS with a tour from Bristol Temple Meads to York and return.

Its 140 years since the Tay bridge disaster today, one of the rare moments where Victorian engineering failed. The piers of the old bridge can be seen here on the right as the final East Coast HST crosses on December 18th.
