Journey of a Rain Drop

A while ago at camera club we had the fun challenge to post 4/5 images with no captions, which when viewed in order told a story. This was my entry which I was quite pleased with and thought made for a good post for Earth Day 🌎

It was fun to think of images together as a group rather than standalones for a change. I think a set better describes the intangibles (sounds, emotions, smells) and helps connect you to the photographer. The progression from macro to landscape was intentional in these, as was the colour change from dull to bright (although this second aspect didn't work quite as well).

It can work with so many subjects and themes, and you could even add a text narrative to develop it into a photo-essay if you wanted. Anyway, enough waffle, I encourage you to give it a go next time you're out!💧

Lovely display at Dunrobin Castle for the annual

I got a few nice sunny spells between the sleet showers to wander round the gardens and admire the carpets of snowdrops. As we hunker down (again) for Storm Dudley (aka Storm Dudders 😉) it has been a nice looking through these pictures as a reminder that better weather is not too far away!

Amazing sunrise this morning! Love the light catching on the greenscrew’s buggies lined up as a team of three. The drizzle and low cloud made everything glow a really intense orange, there’s absolutely no filter! 😱

Last night at Camera Club I learned about "Koru" - the Mãori word for the spiral shape created by a new unfurling fern frond. The unfolding outer fern symbolizes new life and growth, while the inner spiral suggests a 'return to the point of origin', symbolizing strength and peace. A harmony of sorts. Koru is an important shape in New Zealand/Mãori culture and you'll soon start to see it everywhere.. from aircraft livery to tattoos.
These ferns are a couple of pictures I took in Dunrobin woods as part of our recent field trip there.

Beautiful flowers in the garden at the moment - these are Cosmos & Brachyscome, both part of the Aster family. The colours are lovely but I also think they are looking pretty in black and white 🌼🌸

A Small Heath butterfly staying low out of the strong wind today at Dornoch Point. Small heaths have a lovely bright orange upper wing but good luck seeing it! These small flittery creatures always sit with their wings closed. 🦋
