I’m delighted to announce that September is now fully booked thanks to Newborn and Cake Smash Sessions - September is the busiest month for us newborn / 1st birthday cake smash photographers - why do you ask? 9 months prior to September is December 😉 🎉🥂🕺💃🏼🎄🎅🏻

I’m incredibly grateful to every family who has trusted me to capture such special milestones, from those precious first days to celebrating a first birthday. Your continued support means the world to my small business.

📅 Planning a newborn session?
One of the questions I’m asked most often is “When should I book?”

My recommendation is to reserve your newborn session around the time of your 20-week scan. This allows me to pencil in your due date and ensure I have space available in my diary when your little one arrives. Newborn sessions are limited each month to allow flexibility around babies arriving early or late, so booking early is always advisable.

✨ October and November availability is already filling, and bookings are now being taken into 2027.

If you’re expecting, celebrating a first birthday, or planning a family session, I’d love to hear from you.

🌲 FAMILY MEMORIES MADE IN THE WOODS 🪾

I met up with these 2 lovely families earlier today who had travelled down from Wick to beautiful Balblair Woods at Loch Fleet, just outside of Golspie, for a relaxed outdoor family photography session as they wanted updated photos of the kids for their grandparents.

The aim of the session was to capture a mixture of larger extended family photographs along with individual family photos — the kind of images that become even more precious as the years pass by 💕

Now… with THREE little ones all under 5 years old, it’s safe to say the session was full of energy 😂 There was lots of running around, plenty of noise from me behind the camera trying to get those little faces looking my way, quick games, cuddles, exploring and constantly moving onto the next spot before boredom kicked in… but honestly, that’s exactly what family sessions with young children should be like.

No pressure.
No stiff posing.
Just genuine moments, real smiles and memories being made together ❤️

Outdoor family photography sessions like these are about so much more than “just photos”. They’re about freezing time for a little while — capturing the tiny smiles, the cuddles, the chaos, the personalities and the connection between you all before the children grow and change again.

Hello 👋🏻

I’ve had an influx of new followers locally so I thought I’d introduce myself as it may seem that I’ve appeared out of nowhere all of a sudden.

I’ve been a photographer for nearly 20 years now starting off with landscapes, then pets until I started photographing people 16 years ago. I had a very successful portrait studio in Thurso (which explains why I have so many followers & clients from Caithness) until we moved down to Dornoch in November 2024

When we moved I sold up the majority of my studio equipment and props as I was going to retire however life threw us a wee wobble in September ‘25 and I needed to go back to work so set about finding a studio to work out of and buying back props I’d sold!! Thankfully The Dornoch Hub had a small but adequate room available to rent so that is now where I am based, in the smallest photography studio I think I’ve ever worked in but it’s perfect for my needs photographing newborns, little sitters, cake smashes etc. For larger family groups we have the wonderful outdoors that surrounds us.

I have photographed more or less everything over the years - most boring and hardest ever was a range of chest freezers for Norfrost many years ago…that really taught me about controlling lighting and angles!!

Anyway thats my photography background in a nutshell, personally I live in Springfield development with my husband and father and 4 dogs, I have 2 grown up children and 5 grandchildren, I’m forever dieting, unless I’m not then I love eating and a few glasses of wine!

O.M.G. what a day yesterday was 🎂👶💛

Three Cake Smash & Splash sessions back-to-back and by the end of it I was absolutely exhausted… but honestly, it was SO worth it 🥰

I’ve just finished choosing some of my favourite images from each session and I’ve been sitting here smiling the whole time at all the hilarious expressions, messy moments and gorgeous little personalities ✨

The best part?
Not a single tear all day — just lots of giggles, splashing, cake-covered fingers and babies having the BEST time 🎂🛁💦

My little models were absolute stars and the perfect choices to help launch these brand new sessions 🌿 Oh and I also discovered that there is a blossoming relationship between 2 of the models so we had to get them in together for their first photo shoot 😍

🌲 Family adventures in the woods 🌲

I recently met up with this lovely local Dornoch family for a relaxed outdoor session at Camore Woods and what a gorgeous morning it turned out to be 💕

We wandered around the children’s nature playground, letting the boys explore, climb, chat and just be themselves while stopping off at all the beautiful little spots hidden throughout the woods for photos along the way. Sessions like this are always my favourite because they’re not just about smiling at the camera — they’re about capturing families exactly as they are in this season of life 🥹

The boys were full of personality and energy, and amongst all the adventures we also captured some really lovely moments between mum and dad too ❤️

One of my favourite parts of the session was chatting with mum and asking how she first heard about me… only to discover that I had actually photographed HER when she was around 14 years old with a group of her friends! 😭 I absolutely love moments like that. It’s such a privilege to now be photographing her own family all these years later. It really does mean the world when people follow me online and come back to me through different stages of life 💕

💕 Welcome to the world Ivy | 16 days brand new 💕
I was delighted to hear that Mum Chloe was having another baby and wanted to book back in with me to capture photos of Reuben with his new baby sister Ivy. Another Caithness family travelling down to Dornoch for these special family memories 💕

Watching families grow is one of the most rewarding parts of being a newborn photographer. Seeing proud big brother Reuben so gentle and loving with Ivy absolutely melted my heart 🥹 These are the moments that pass in the blink of an eye, but photographs let you hold onto them forever.

Little Ivy was an absolute dream throughout her session and but was wide awake for most of her session but very settled, while Reuben made everyone smile with his cuddles and kisses for his baby sister 💕

If you’re expecting in 2026 and thinking about newborn photography, it’s never too early to get booked in.
