💙 Welcome to the world Jude 💙

Little Jude made the journey down from Wick for his newborn session, although Mummy and Daddy had to make a slight change to their original travel plans and just Mummy arrived by a different mode of transport than they had first intended! 🚌💙

But she made it, andI was so glad she did, because just look at this gorgeous little boy! 🥰

At nearly 3 weeks old, Jude was already showing us two very different sides of his little personality. One minute he was beautifully curled up and completely peaceful, fast asleep and looking every inch the sleepy newborn… and the next, those gorgeous little eyes were wide open, taking everything in and looking straight at my camera! 👀💙

There is something so special about this stage — those tiny curled-up poses, the little stretches, the sleepy expressions and then those moments when they suddenly wake up and seem to be studying the world around them.

Jude was such a handsome little baby and I think these two images show the contrast perfectly — sleepy Jude and wide-awake Jude! 🥰

Thank you, Mummy, for making the journey from Wick and for trusting me to capture these precious memories of your beautiful boy. 💙

🎂💙 Happy 1st Birthday, Declan! 💙🎂

Today this gorgeous little boy is celebrating his very first birthday, and what better way to mark the occasion than with a Cake Smash & Splash Session! 🥳🧁🛁

Declan wasn’t entirely convinced that the cake was his cup of tea 😂… but once he discovered the bath, he absolutely LOVED it! 💦 He had so much fun splashing about that I’m pretty sure he nearly emptied the bath! 🤣💙

And can we just appreciate that gorgeous cake?! 🧁💙 A huge thank you to Lyla at Single Malt Baking for creating such a beautiful cake to match the session perfectly. It looked almost too good to smash… almost! 😍

I’ve also had a few questions about the background I’ve been using for my Cake Smash sessions. This isn’t the only backdrop I have — it’s simply been the most popular one so far! 💙🤍 I’ve got a choice of different backdrops and next week I’ll be introducing some of those other backdrops as Mum’s have chosen some different options to this one, so just so you know there is plenty of choice for little birthday stars coming into the studio. ✨

🎂 Cake Smash • Splash • 1st Birthday Sessions

Welcome to the world Jude 💙

that gorgeous little newborn shape — just as he would have been tucked up inside Mum.

And those tiny flakes of dry newborn skin are another reminder of just how fresh he is. Peeling skin is very common in the first days and weeks as that outer layer naturally sheds and his skin develops its protective barrier.

If you’re wondering what to do about it, less is often more. Try not to pick or rub the flakes away; gentle bathing in plain water and patting the skin dry is usually all that’s needed. NHS guidance actually recommends avoiding lotions and oils during the first month, unless advised otherwise by your health visitor or healthcare professional.

As a newborn photographer, I think these little flakes are perfectly imperfect details worth photographing — because this is Jude exactly as he was in those precious first days. 🤍

Your comments have all been read and I appreciate each and every one of you reaching out to me, especially those who don’t know me personally.

I was privileged to have a loving father for 64 years not many are so fortunate. And i am truly grateful for those years, especially the last 20 months where he has been living with us.

The house is quieter without him here but he’s still with me in my heart for ever more. 🩵
