Welcome to HIRR 2025, hosted by !

Last week, all four home nations and hundreds of supporters descended on Dorney Lake for the Home International Rowing Regatta, and an epic annual clash of top-tier rowing talent. Held this year at the purpose-built 2012 olympic rowing venue, the atmosphere within this incredible sporting amphitheatre was electric throughout.

Preparations were long in the making, and no quarter was given as the Welsh squad headed out onto the water. Many well-known faces were joined by a contingent of fresh blood who had earned the right to represent their country for the first time at this level.

With many looking across the horizon towards Los Angeles, individual and group performances from the Welsh athletes never failed to deliver. Relentless pace, stamina and willpower was on show throughout, loudly celebrated by our loyal and vocal supporters from the towpath, and bringing home an impressive haul of medals. Da iawn Cymru!

Sunshine and more than a few showers greeted our competitors on the beach in Saundersfoot over the weekend for the 2025 Coastal Sculling Championships, with our partners Saundersfoot Sailing Club and Wisemans Bridge Rowing Club.

Competing over a 4km course, athletes from across Great Britain battled against changing conditions throughout the day in single, double and quad sculls. Numerous blade strikes and hull clashes spoke of the closeness and intensity of the racing, as boats fought side by side to contest the fastest lines around the marks.

Thank you to all the athletes, supporters, and volunteers who made the journey and provided such a thrilling contest. Keep your eyes peeled for more images and videos, and pencil June 28th into your diaries to join us at our next competition in Fishguard for the 2025 Welsh Rowing Junior Beach Sprints Championships.
